Hey Sid,
Thanks for the info, any torque figures yet for the petrol engine?

Also the tire size should be na?
tyre size: 185/70 R14 tubeless (active, dynamic, emotion) with wheel cover.*
195/60 R15 (emotion pack) with alloys.*

Cheers

Edit: If its the same petrol engine as in the Linea then the torque should be 115@4500 RPM.

Did u drive it also ?? How was it ? Some info please [/quote]

thats 7Nm more at 250 rpm less than the most popular and largest selling diesels of maruti so will have a better low end pick up

Dats obvious , what else do u expect for the base version ? Lets wait for the prices of the diff models . Fiat is not really interested in selling 1.2 active model . It is that simple .

1.2 is there just for marketing purposes, as they can have a low base price to attract more people to the showrooms.
1.4 FIRE and 1.3 MJD are what they will be interested in selling more.

The website looks cool. Looks like they have definitely have put in more efforts on Punto than Linea. It will be interesting to see the full campaign (TV, Print ads). Registered for a TD, can't wait!

From having a 'no-website' status a couple of years back to having this fabulously funky website for the Punto. Way to go Fiat.

FIAT is all out and in full works to launch Punto and they know how high people's expectations from the car are.
Gave a call to my salesman day before yesterday and he said Fiat is giving them 3-4 days training and explaining each and every bit of the car. He said that at Linea's launch officials were quite casual in giving training but this time they are being strict and giving proper info on each aspect to all salesmen.

Website looks very funky and good. Cmon FIAT, keep the pricing right.

The website does gives some adrenaline boost, but i would rather wait till 17th and see what they really have under the funky site. I do not want to end up like i20, expected a lot and finally they gave 1.2 (i do agree it is pretty good engine but still).

Thanks a lot for the info sid, the 1.4L looks promising. I cant wait to get my hands on the punto, i have wait quite a lot for it (like all of you)

:P

GRANDE PUNTO IN SHOWROOMS NOW! Display Cars are now at all FIAT-TATA dealership, though I am not sure how willing the dealers to show the cars before launch.

Try your luck and charm, who knows you could be lucky and we could have a review of probably the most awaited hatchback of the year.

Just called up Rama Motors in Okhla Phase-II, New Delhi. The lady confirmed that they have got the cars but has promised to call me back to confirm if I can come over and have a sneak peek. I guess I will have to land uninvited and try and work my charm on her. I hope I still have it even after being married for three years.

HI
Just got that sneak peek at the GP. She was red, bright red, top of line emotion pack multijet variant ! First off, looks even more gorgeous in the flesh! 15 inch wheels, and different alloys from the ones on the Linea. Must say the alloys look more sportier and have a very unique look.
Inside, its just like the Linea but with black and grey trim. Also, fuel lid lever and the boot open lever are on the floor to the right of the driver seat(like in the active variant of the Linea). No AC vents for the rear, and no sunglasses holder too. No vanity mirror for the driver side sun shade. Rest of the stuff, identical to the Linea.
Seats are comfy but the thick A pillar will definitely be a problem. Plus the quarter glass between the A pillar and the windscreen does not allow one to get a view of the outside. Didnt get a chance to drive it cause it was lined up in the washing bay.
Dirty or not, she still looked very delicious. waiting for a TD.

cheers
