Would the Grande Punto also feature the amazing Blue&Me technology like Linea. Something really very handy and safe for driver to use on the go...

Nice scoop. Somehow, i liked the overall shape of the car. Seems to be really spacious. Considering that the pictures taken are of a prototype, i hope that the actual production cars come with good quality materials and plastic. One of my concerns with FIAT in India is the use of cheap materials to save on overall costs.
The Grand Punto can be a serious threat to Fabia, i20 and swift as I definitely expect the ride, handling and stability to be superior to the competition.
I expect that the engine will be similar to the Linea's, again as a cost-cutting step. The simple logic is same brand, same manufacturing plant, same engine but different cars !

Fiat has dropped a massive chance by not launching it.

With Hyundai out with i20 and Honda Coming out with jazz in the mid of the year, grande punto will have competition which is very hard to beat.

Poor strategy by Fiat.
Thumbs Down .

She sure looks good doesn't she?! If only Fiat can spruce up its image and do something about the appalling re-sale values.

They need a trump card, a USP that would make the Punto a hot seller. There is nothing like a success story to wipe out negative perceptions and apprehensions. Maybe they should consider plonking the VGT version of the 1.3 MJD in the Punto.

Well there is a better way to look at it too, Fiat can increase the localisation of Punto and it could be be priced VFM like the Linea. Also i
think Punto might be launched before Jazz. Punto is expected around March/April- May 09.

G-Punto Expected to launch January 2009

Driveinside.com shows Linea and Punto scheduled to be launched in January 2009. If this is true then clearly FIAT is responding to the early launch of i20.

Hope it's true . Checkout the link,

I'd take that with a pinch of salt.

Punto was supposed to be launched in Jan 09, when Linea was scheduled for Sep 08. So I dont think the Punto is ready for launch. I guess Fiat thinks the GP is their winner/long-term replacement for the Palio and the Linea is more like a market-study-mechanism. Thats my guess.

well, since Linea is out to launch now, Punto would be scheduled to be launched in Mid-2009!

There won't be a replacement for Palio as Palio would be the entry level hatchback while Punto would be a Premium hatchback car followed by Linea and then Bravo!

- Palio Stile
- Grande Punto
- Linea
- Bravo

End of 2009 would see FIAT lined up their cars perfectly in every segment (if only they survive with Linea and Punto )

Cheers~
