Lazy is such a good word! I remember when the merc c, e and s classes had distinct looks. Now they all look the same. Audi, BMW, VW, Jaguar all follow this approach too and honestly, I can't understand why. The upper end buyers would feel cheated. The lower end buyers would perhaps feel like they have arrived driving a similar car to a more expensive one (but deep down would know it to be untrue!). Due to size differences, standardization doesnt even save money for the manuafacturers, I would think!

And I can't understand why a car company needs a design language? I mean, come on, Audi can do so much more if they let go of their standard grill design. It's been 2 decades, and I wonder how many ways they can reimagine their diamond shaped grill. A nip here, a tuck there, and curve, a change in grill inserts, and thats all they seem to be allowed. Is it fear? Is it laziness? Is it insecurity? I know I wouldn't lose my love for the brand if they decided to (heaven forbid!) change the grill in front to something completely different. I would enjoy to see the evolution. Change is good. Yes, it takes guts, but it creates brilliance.

Sorry for this rant, but I feel the best brands can do so mich more! And therefore, yes, kudos to Maruti for design innovation. Keep it up and let there be more!

Did you just turn the new Dzire into the old Ciaz!?

The front looks reminds the Toyota family design and the back design of Ciaz. Amaze and Aura might have a hard run after the launch

Looks like tyres will defnitely need a width upgrade.

Not sure about ADAS, I think it's gonna be the 360 degree camera and NOT the ADAS. Every MS car above and near the Baleno's price segment is gonna get it since Baleno has it. Since MS have the tendency to reuse elements in multiple models, this could get more or less the same interior and features of Fronx and Baleno.

Honda Amaze really will be struggling to keep up their interior (dash and infotainment unit) uptodate compared to MS. Who would've thought!

Slightly offtopic: Since both Altroz and Baleno has 360 degree cameras now, Hyundai will be finally forced to add it along with an actual digital MID instead of the current gimmicky one.

Front definitely looks like a Audi Q3, rear view doesn't justify the front looks. However, a welcome move by Maruti Suzuki they've started working on designs now

re: 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire spied on test. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 6.79 lakhs

I like what I see, looks bold and muscular from the front, the rear not so much, but then again not bad either, possibly accentuated by the skinny tires.

Best looking car amongst all the generations that came out outside, but on the inside similar theme will be played out is what I feel, with a nip here and a tuck there. The tires could do some upsizing though that would make it more proportionate, I feel. I think this will continue to hold the mantle of the best seller in that segment easily for the coming years too.

One thing I always noticed (not sure if it's just me) was how silent the K series cars were compared to the other ones from their stable. While I could hear some engine noise from the other cars like the Swift or Ignis, this one used to be dead silent. So much so that it was hard to make out from the outside if the car was running or not; got honked out couple of times inside my client office premises because I couldn't hear these ones approaching. Guess that's going to go away with the move to the Z series engines.

Cheers,
NI

re: 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire spied on test. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 6.79 lakhs

To be honest, I'm not as excited now when compared to the initial leaks. No mistake, the car looks better than all the previous generations but is this based on the new Swift platform or is it a reskinned version of the current Dzire? The A,B,C pillars looks almost the same as the current Dzire.

Also, while the front has been flattened and squared off, the sides and rear retain the curvy lines of the previous model.

For me, its still the Honda Amaze that is the most proportionate of the lot.

Irrespective of what changes have been made outside, it's still going to be the same Window Switches, same Steering Wheel, same Infotainment System and many things same like all other Marutis that we will forget that we are sitting inside a new model.

re: 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire spied on test. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 6.79 lakhs

My only concern is how the Z12 engine performs with additional weight of the boot when loaded. This engine needs a mild hybrid system (available in international markets) to give it a torque boost when needed.

But its nice to see the Dzire having its own identity now and not resembling the Swift in any manner when looked at. It was a pleasant surprise.

The dashboard will be completely new when compared to the outgoing model. It will be similar to Swift, but that is what part sharing is all about, nothing wrong with it.

How thin, spindly tyres completely change the stance of the car. A set of slightly wider rubber will make it look so much better.

I have done numerous 4hrs+ trips in both the Amaze and Dzire and I have a simple suggestion for you, go for the Amaze or Fronx. The Amaze felt much better in terms of comfort (front and back seats) over bad roads. Not just that the Amaze seat cushioning is more comfortable and supportive over long distances.

Test drive the Fronx and see if it is as comfortable as the Amaze. P.S. I am a Dzire owner.

After 15000 kms the Dzire interiors age much faster. Creaks and squeaks started in my car even before I reached 15000 kms. So for personal use try the Amaze or Fronx and then decide.

Wait... am I the only one who thought this looks EXACTLY like a 2019 Toyota Camry's rear?

re: 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire spied on test. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 6.79 lakhs

New Maruti Suzuki Dzire comes alive again! Top variant on spy shots!

Quote:
The cabin of the new-gen Dzire gets a radical update over the previous iteration. However, it is a lot similar to that of the new Swift. The biggest highlight is the free-standing infotainment screen sitting on top of the layered dashboard design with three-tone finish. The AC vent also get revisions with HVAC panel being taken from the new Swift. Notably, the steering wheel also get a refreshed design, barring the analog dials for the instrument panel.
Quote:
As for the features, the new Dzire will be equipped with cruise control, automatic climate control, 360-degree camera, and an electric sunroof, which is not only first for the Dzire range but also for the segment.
Quote:
On the outside, the front and the rear profile are the ones that get major overhaul with revised grille, sleeker headlamps with DRLs, and new patterned taillamps.

Thank you for the inputs, I was also considering Amaze for a long time. But the lack of any service stations in my home town for Honda is an issue. I have to choose between Hyundai or Maruti
