Seems like it's a very comprehensive car now. And great to see the compact sedan segment heating up again (new Amaze is on the way).

It'll cater to the typical Maruti/Honda customer. No nonsense, reliable and comfortable car. Makes more sense than buying any hatchback now. What remains to be seen is the build quality.

And looks gorgeous in darker shades IMO.

But, that 163mm GC is a concern still, personally. And that 82 Bhp, 3 pot motor too isn't a performer like the K12C. But, since the fuel efficiency is so good, and the looks are good too, those shortcomings can be forgiven?

Quite stylish front fascia. Very refreshing in otherwise monotonous MSIL lineup. Sub 4 meter rule has ruined sub compact sedan segment under 10 lakh. Good to see MSIL is actually trying something innovative here with the design. Just one request to MSIL, Please end the step motherly treatment of Ciaz and give that car a proper facelift. It really deserve one.

I was recently driving my cousin's new Swift. Maruti has tuned the low speed tractability and driveability of the new Z-series engine very well. Part throttle responses are very peppy, the fuelling is spot on and there are no nasty jerks even when you rapidly use the throttle in "on-off" sequence in quick succession.
Till 100kmph you will not have much cause for complaint. Above 110-120 kmph performance tapers off gradually and the engine feels gutless.

The top end punch of the old 4-cylinder K-series or for that matter the revvability of the venerable G13BB is simply not there. Given the fact that the Dzire should not be much heavier, (maybe 50 odd kgs more), than its hatchback sibling, I do not think performance or lack of it, will be much of a bother for the target customer segment.

I mean if that was the case: the Tata Punch petrol should not have sold at all! In my opinion that 1.2 litre, naturally aspirated, 3-pot petrol engine is possibly the most underwhelming and unimpressive of any engine ever produced in India!
