re: 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire spied on test. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 6.79 lakhs

The upcoming Honda Amaze has its job cutout. This is the bread and butter model for Honda.

With a new / facelifted Dzire on the way good luck to them.

I remember reading that the Dzire will now have a sunroof. Unfortunately that's what consumers prioritise over safety. A sign of the times we live in.

Query for fellow TBHPians- how is this 3 pot engine compared to existing 4 pot engine?

This is of course a doctored photo.

As per people in the know, vehicle production has already started at Manesar plant of Suzuki and it's a matter of time, maybe a week or two before the car breaks cover.

From the same sources, I got information that while looking has improved but it's not a heaven and earth difference and is a more masculine evolution of current gen Dzire. Suzuki guys seemed bullish about the car including its safety performance. So, that's worth waiting and watching.

Were they not bullish about the safety of Brezza & Grand Vitara? But unfortunately, we still don't know if they had even sent those cars for BNCAP testing. So, I will take this safety stuff with a pinch of salt until positive facts are available in public domain.

The aforementioned Cars were definitely sent for BNCAP testing as per my sources in the Industry along with Cars from other makers as well. Why TATA Cars have only got prominence in published results is not known to me for sure (although I have a fair idea), maybe the other tested cars were not 5 star rated.

Whether you like it or not, discussion about safety can fill forum pages but that is not a prime mover for selling cars. People buy in to a package deal, sometimes with compromises here and there, some severe and some not so.

Any idea if the media rumours about Maruti being keen on submitting the Dzire to BNCAP as well as GNCAP are true? I would usually not give two hoots to random media speculation but this is a journalist who is pretty close to Global NCAP and often covers their tests live etc.

I am also wondering if there might be subtext to GNCAP's secretary general twice praising Suzuki this year, and more recently the new Swift in particular when using India as an example in interviews in South America.

This is from an interview in Argentina in May:
Quote:
After 10 years of work, popular cars in India are about to offer 6 airbags, ESP and pedestrian protection as standard. We see examples such as the Hyundai Grand i10, the Verna (Accent indio) or the recent launches of Suzuki Maruti and Tata. Today in India there are vehicles of good safety and cheaper than in Latin America, which are the same as similar to those of our region, which represents a strong competitor for vehicles in Latin America.
Source

Then this one in Chile earlier this month:
Quote:
[Machine translated] I dare say something, India today is more advanced than Chile in safety measures. It started a long time ago, with something very similar to Latin NCAP, and today we are seeing models such as the new Swift, the new, let's say the entire generation of Suzuki, that are going to start to be seen with six airbags as standard because in India they are manufactured with six airbags as standard. Let's see if they keep the six airbags in Latin America.
Source

I keep getting the feeling that they have tested it somewhere or the other, maybe Latin NCAP for the Mexico-export version.

It is within the realms of possibility as Suzuki and GNCAP had improved terms after initial years of complete hostility in India. But I will not speculate as I have no information regarding the same. If GNCAP have quoted the new Swift in positive terms, then it will not be a surprise if they are privy to Data that we as normal people have no idea about.

This was the exact reason due to which I said that I will take safety related rumors with a pinch of salt. I don't want to digress from the core subject of this thread. Let's keep the rumors on safety away for now and let's pick it only when facts are available.

re: 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire spied on test. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 6.79 lakhs

I am in market for new sub 4m car. On fence between the Delta+ version of Fronx and Dzire. Former considered only for its ground clearance as roads around my town are pretty patchy.

I hope Dzire provides a good package under 10L as it has to sit between baleno and swift. But looking at the market rumours about the features, it might be costlier than Baleno (until Baleno facelift arrives). Hoping for the best

The front end styling looks neat.

But the rear styling...guess design wise the lights should have extended into the boot area, but costs must have dictated that it remain a one piece unit.

The front is ready for a Toyota badging. Toyota India currently does not have any budget sedans.

On the rear, at least on the boot area next to the lights, a simple red reflector design could have made it look better. I think the after-market companies have an opportunity here.

Looks similar to the Hondas. Neat looking sedan all said and done with plenty of scope for aftermarket mods. And yes, can easily fit a Toyota badge.

I like what I see. Matured design, just like their new Brezza. No over-blings like "connected" or "over-designed" lights, grill and panels.

The front design looks more like the design language of Audi or Honda rather than Maruti. Has anyone else felt the same?

Can already see the aftermarket fill it up and give a mini Ciaz look.
