Terrible miss from Honda for not providing adjustable head rest atleast in the top trim. It was there in Honda Jazz 2015 VX.
Does this cost a lot? Why do OEMs choose this design? Even a12 years + LXI Maruti Celerio / Wagon has adjustable rear head rests.

Re: Next-gen Honda Amaze launched at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom)

This is going to very subjective. Is it just me or, this car doesn't look very different than the last gen?

The design is boring because Elevate already gets a similar front grill. From the front fascia, I can't tell if that is an Elevate or, an Amaze!? I don't see much differentiation. Earlier, the WR-V looked different than the Amaze, but now they are just not putting the effort to make it look better.

Sorry, I fail to see the appeal for this facelift. Dzire facelift has a better design language compared to this.

Thank you for posting these photos. It shows that the grills of Elevate and New Amaze is not the same. It only looks similar. Both the grill shape and the grill pattern are different.

I'm tired of listening to lazy youtubers who claims to be auto journalists announcing "front se elevate, back se City". I still don't understand even if it was the same grill how a SUV body type car's front will look SAME as a Sedan body type car.

Re: Next-gen Honda Amaze launched at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom)

Visited Dakshin Honda Singasandra, Bengaluru for the test drive after booking online a day before. Got couple of calls from Honda for confirmation and they forwarded to nearest showroom. An executive from the showroom had called to confirm the arrangement.

I reached around 10 AM with my friend, but the initial experience was not so pleasant. Despite no other customers, no one attended to us until I approached someone and showed them the number of the person who had called me. Only then was I forwarded to the person. She seemed not knowledgeable of some car details, like saying that the base variant has only two airbags.

The test drive was good, and ticked all my boxes. I was testing the ground clearance and drivability. All the features also felt quite useful for me. So I went ahead and booked it. However, they later said there is a ₹2500 cancellation charge, which wasn’t disclosed earlier. After booking, their behavior became pleasant and it was all smiles.

Today morning, I got a feedback link from Honda and gave honest ratings. Later the executive called and insisting me to give five stars and send a screenshot. This felt unprofessional and left a bad impression.

The car is great for the price is what I felt, but the dealership experience was definitely not what I was expecting from Honda.

Re: Next-gen Honda Amaze launched at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom)

Happened to take a look at the new Amaze in a showroom near me. I own a 2022 City and my views are totally w.r.t to my car.
The steering and the AC buttons are upgraded from the old one and are same with that of City which are really good and gives you that up market feel.
The AC adjustment pedals (sorry but what are they actually called?) looks good and operating them too had a premium appeal. The plastic quality shows where the cost cutting has taken place, still they are not bad when compared to rivals. The roof was comparitively better as my City will have the threads coming out when trying to clean it. But Amaze had a smooth roof, which I believe would be easy to clean.
Somehow I felt the seats were a bit hard unlike the City. Rear legroom was spacious enough and main difference I noticed was Amaze didnt have the slight hump when we try to stretch our legs, whereas City still has it.
I am not a big fan of the stand out infotainment unit, which is the case here and it looked like it was standing in an "Attention" position. Understand it must be to avoid the sun glare, but it didnt work out for me.
I opened the hood to see a half engine protection cover, but there was hell lot of room at the back end which is easier for rodents to come in.
The soft touch in the window side hand rests are black and they are present only in the driver and passenger seats. How much would it cost to have it added in the rear doors too?
I felt the paint quality was better than my City - I am not sure if its just for the first batch of cars or will continue.
Overall I feel the changes are there, but are they worth to be called generation upgrade? Difficult to answer.

To comment about the showroom experience, it was typical of Captial Honda OMR - I was there for a good odd 20 minutes, there were a few customers and the showroom guys were almost equal to the number of customers (approx 5-7), not a single person reached out to me. Few guys kept roaming inside just closing the car doors, taking some paper from one place to another, but none were really interested to pitch in for sales. I purchased my car at the same showroom couple of years back and no one from that time were present now.Even earlier, my experience was ordinary, but now it has further gone down. Honda not only has to study Indian market, but also improve in customer relations. They cant be just making good (read as "not great") cars and survive.

Thanks for sharing your experience at the showroom in Madinaguda.

Based on that, how does the 2nd gen top model measure up against the 3rd gen VX model. (Please factor in the 1L discount for the 2nd gen according to the sales executive).

Re: Next-gen Honda Amaze launched at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom)

I have a 2014 Brio Automatic. The mileage i get is around 8 in city. Will the new Amaze Automatic deliver better mileage in the city? I am pretty happy with my Brio but it drinks petrol so looking for something that's more efficient on that front.

Honda Amaze 3rd Generation: Test Drive and Initial Impressions

Next-gen Honda Amaze launched at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom)-screenshot-20241207-4.45.478239pm.png

Given how it's priced and packaged, I'm interested to know how it performs in the Indian market

Hey BHPians!
Give that the new Honda Amaze was recently launched and me being a car enthusiast, wanted to check it out thoroughly.

I'll be sharing my 5 observations of the Honda Amaze, experiencing it in person along with a brief test drive review.

KEY OBSERVATIONS: HONDA AMAZE 2025->

1- The exterior design of the car definitely looks much much better in person. It was parked behind an Elevate and you could feel like there's a more premium car rather than an Amaze. When they said it'll be inspired by Honda's models abroad, they weren't wrong. It's bound to change your perspective.

2- The rear look which many pointed out to be similar to that of City's appeared to be a little different in person honestly. Yes the taillights are very much similar but the overall positioning of the boot and boxy elements will differentiate it from the city.

3- The touch and feel of materials in the interior at some places feel better than the City! The dashboard I think we all can unanimously agree, City's is way too dated. It's not just about the looks, the fit and finish is par and to some extent also exceeds expectations. Even though it uses hard plastic instead of soft touch material throughout, they feel sturdy and strong.

4- Tried the new rear AC vents and tested the AC effectiveness as Honda said they've improved its cooling. I think the rear AC vents are a fantastic addition to an already value for money car. They're good at cooling and shouldn't be an issue in hot and humid times.

5- However, the head room in the car is definitely inferior to the previous gen. I sat in both back to back and the difference is noticeable. For anyone above 5'11, it could get a little tighter at the rear. Thigh support however, is pretty good.

TEST DRVE EXPERIENCE: HONDA AMAZE 2025

So I couldn't really take it for a long drive due to multiple factors, however, I ended up noticing a few interesting things.
1- The 1.2L I-VTEC is smooth and refined as ever, performance however, is pretty much similar to the previous gen. This is because the weight of the two is pretty much similar too. Noticing a change is tough however, the power is adequate for most city driving.
2- NVH levels in the car are poor. Yes, being a Honda, you're bound to feel like travelling with your windows open. Road noise, engine noise and traffic noise is way too common in Hondas and here, it's no different.
3- The ADAS (tested Adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist) work neatly, as they're the same set of features we've seen on the city and are well tuned.
4- This time, you get a very commanding view of the road. Thanks to the Elevate inspired front, you can easily see the bonnet edges which not only makes it easy to drive, but makes you feel so confident when on road.

These were my initial observations of the New Honda Amaze. Hoping to drive it more soon-
Given how it's priced and packaged, I'm interested to know how it performs in the Indian market (where the Honda fanboy in me wants it to beat the Dzire knowing it won't)

Thank you so much!

Re: Next-gen Honda Amaze launched at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom)

Spotted a brand new test drive Amaze today in blue. Honestly speaking, no compact sedan has looked as good ever in India. The car looked really good on road. Proportions are good as far as CS go. Front face is very likeable and has a strong character of its own. Haven’t seen the new Dzire in person hence can’t compare but this Amaze looks difficult to beat in looks.

Most definitely. I drive a 22 model VXI CVT Amaze.

Highway on plains 20-22 kmpl
City NCR 15 kmpl

The trick is to feather the pedal - not push the pedal to metal. By nature I am a sedate and defensive driver.

Trust me this engine delivers good enough mileage.

Dzire gets a bigger 9" touchscreen in ZXi+ variant whereas VXi and ZXi get a smaller 7" unit. Hope this helps!

Lazy Honda misread the market, again. They should have brought in their hybrid in this segment. That's what the segment leader and killer Maruti is going to do.
