In any case, even if Honda can deliver 80% City exterior and 80% Elevate interior, that would be a big deal for a 4-metre sedan.

re: Next-gen Honda Amaze launched at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom)

The designs looks out of this world and if this is correct, probably Honda will recover its mojo!

Even with its low slung looks, if it can give reasonably good GC, and variants that could give multiple options, it can well and truly revive Honda. What do I look forward to?

a. With and without a Turbo Engine
b. With and without Sunroof (for me - I don't want it - but that is what the current gen buyers want!)
c. 6 airbags as standard
d. Few bells and whistles
e. The vehicle should be more mechanical rather than electronic gizmo. That's where true dependability lies.

Will wait until Dec. 4th!

The sketches may make us feel optimisitc, but don't get hopes high.

Most probably this will be a sharper looking design in the current Amaze body shape/size. That's all. Not getting wider or more low slung for sure.

While the interior is aiming for a mini-City look, they should have either gone the City way or continued the existing design for HVAC controls. This TATA/Maruti like design is as good as an all touch control for AC.

Not sure if anyone noticed, but the dashboard looks exactly the same as the Elevate.

Not quite, its taking the inspiration from global new gen civic.

This will be a case similar to Hyundai where a car that costed less (Verna) killed the car in higher segment (Elantra) as it gave almost 90% of the features in itself.

This might prove to be fatal for the sales of City in India, as the 1.5IVTEC (and some legroom) will be the only major differentiating factor between the City and Amaze, and nobody would shop into the next segment purely for the 1.5 IVTEC, especially now with the new TSI competition and the 1.5 turbo from Hyundai have made their way into the market.

As much as Amaze gets a well deserved makeover, the City deserves on badly. To maintain a legacy, the product needs to survive!

re: Next-gen Honda Amaze launched at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom)

Please do not get your hopes high. This is only the concept sketches. The production version won't be anywhere close to this.

Those flared fenders will most probably not be there and full size wheels will definitely not be there. The City itself feels undertired. I don't expect anything better from the Amaze.

But the Interior with its similarity to the Elevate looks promising

City is already on a downward spiral with sales figures around 800 for past few months.
So, we need not worry about Amaze killing the City; there isn't much left for Amaze to take off from.

For Honda, a winner is an absolute necessity now to keep afloat, and this Amaze is their current best bet.

I agree. Interior is not exactly the same but very similar to Elevate, at least the HVAC controls, the infotainment screen, the wireless charging, basically the central console of the dashboard. Also the steering and speed / tacho dials will also be a carry forward from City / Elevate.

There will be minor design changes to the dashboard just to differentiate.

I would not be surprised if interior colors are picked from Elevate Apex Edition.

re: Next-gen Honda Amaze launched at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom)

Honda trying too hard to take some limelight away from DZire on its launch date by releasing teasers?

Anyway, these are stretched images. For reference, current gen Amaze is very narrow at 1695mm.

We can expect a taller but narrower car instead of the wide-body car shown in teasers. Since current City and Elevate not elevating anything for Honda, they may price Amaze very competatively to attract some DZire sales. Good for Amaze customers, but this waters down the City brand even more, IMO.

Could you please elaborate on this point? I have been driving an Elevate for a good part of this year and the HVAC controls have not felt unintuitive one bit and is leagues ahead of all touch control systems like the ones in Tata and VAG cars.

As a certified Honda Lover, I just want to say one thing.

That is one of the most beautiful cars I've ever seen, and I've not even seen it yet. It's like the Honda Accord's shadow is touching upon the Indians in form of the Amaze. (sorry for the dramatic speech)

The design speaks post-pandemic Honda in every sphere.

With this, I have high hopes that the next-generation/facelift (?) of Honda City is going to be the car I'll cherish forever. Please god don't let it be the cosmetic changes they gave it in Brazil, let the Honda fanbase reignite with this launch, let the director of Honda-India make some mind-blowing announcements at the launch event.

Fingers crossed for "WE'RE BRINGING MAJOR LAUNCHES NEXT YEAR!!!! India : you matter for us"

Fingers crossed, my favourite brand will make a comeback. Amaze is a great car, one of the most frequently spotted cars here in my city. Of course the smooth CVT and reliable NA engine are it's hard to ignore USPs. With this facelift, hopefully they have figured out the issues with the current model. Wishing them my best.

Side note: Honda please don't waste your time and money in giving sunroofs to small cars (like the Dzire did), let yourself be defined by the comfort your car brings to the driver's mind.

Agree. Was mentioning the same point earlier.

Also see the proportions of the car from the spy shots and these teasers:

Next-gen Honda Amaze launched at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom)-20240807_153040copy1024x764.jpg

Next-gen Honda Amaze launched at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom)-20241111_111650.jpg

Very realistically- the production car is likely to be a heavily reworked current generation Amaze with front and rear elements from this concept teasers but similar proportions as earlier.
