So basically Elevate like headlamps with City taillamps and front bumper and alloys similar to the pre-facelift City? Yeah I'm not really a big fan of companies like Tata and Honda who just design eerily similar looking cars in the wake of "family design language"!

Still, looks like a nice car in isolation but if packaged nicely in top trims, this might steal sales from lower trims of the already struggling City!

City itself is not a chart buster these days, so Honda must be looking to plonk all goodies in the Amaze as this is the bread and butter car of Honda India and if this car struggles then Honda's problems in India will be exponential. City owners might get pissed if Honda carries over too many elements from the City to the Amaze but from company's point of view, for survival, Amaze is a very important car especially at this juncture when D'zire looks promising to a run away success especially if Amaze doesn't pose any meaningful competition. Hence, Honda may not be averse to use all their weapons in their arsenal. They won't mind City/ Amaze cross shopping until the customers don't leave their showroom.

re: Next-gen Honda Amaze launched at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom)

I think it's too early to judge given the time and conditions these spy pictures were taken in, but as far as I can tell, it literally looks like the City was put in a hydraulic press .

End result after the "hydraulic press":

Next-gen Honda Amaze launched at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom)-untitled-design-1.png

Also, the wheels look like the ones from the lower variants of the Indonesian-spec City:

As other fellow City owners have pointed out, it feels kinda weird to see the new Amaze with the same rear design as the City!

re: Next-gen Honda Amaze launched at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom)

In my opinion, DZire has pulled too much of a lead for the Amaze to close. Things like parts availability, service network and quality etc. lag Maruti still, and the CVT, extended warranty and premium positioning are not enough in my opinion. What use is a 7 year warranty if spare part availability dries up in 5?

re: Next-gen Honda Amaze launched at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom)

So the new Honda Amaze giving vibes of the City, And the new DZire giving vibes of the Ciaz.

Makes me think, that for car manufacturers, putting more money in the sub-4m sedan category makes more sense, so they are now offering these cars with a feature set, looks and comfort which is somewhat similar to the full-sized C segment sedans, and thereby, slowly move to kill off the C-segment sedan segment altogether as a long term strategy and keep the sub-4m sedans as the only Sedan offerings in their lineup.

At least for Indian market where the C segment sedans have been doing badly in terms of sales for the past few years now, and sub-4m comes with own set of cost benefits and better profits margins, its all starting to make sense.

I guess a CVT gearbox and maybe, just maybe a better interiors are only Honda can claim over Amaze. Neither Elevate nor City has 360 degree parking cameras. So that's most definitely not happening in Amaze as well. Otherwise this looks too boring, at least from these bad quality photos. I can only hope it looks better in better lighting.

Only based on this photos, exterior of present-gen Amaze looks far better. They only needed to upgrade the interior and maybe update some equipments/features for the changed times, but...

But I think I am being misled by some kind of illusion as the night lights are making the mud flap look like a wheel and hence the car look higher.
Sorry, I did not explain it clearly. I meant that the ground clearance seemed a bit too high, and that the height of the nose ( bumper-to-bonnet length ) seemed less. Anyhow, my thoughts align with yours.

It's gonna look very awkward, but will it have SUV ground clearance ?

Made me laugh .

Current City owners will be really pissed off at this design.

But, good for the Amaze buyers, right? You get the vibes of a product much more premium for a cheaper price!

If the product is capable and pricing is right, sales might pick up for Honda. But there will be many who won't buy the product due to Honda's uncertain future in India. And then, ADAS makes me wonder, how will they price it close to the Dzire? Or will it be just an option on the top trim? Let's see

Till now, everything seems good, let's wait for the prices now.

PS: Just realised, I'm a BHPian now.

Honey, I shrunk the city

Gotta see this one in person to get a proper picture of its proportions and details. Crazy to think that the Dzire could be the best looking sub-4 meter sedan

re: Next-gen Honda Amaze launched at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom)

As somebody else posted too, this is an article from Rushlane, spotting the Amaze from front and rear undisguised, from the front it genuinely feels like Elevate's face is shoehorned to fit in silhouette of Amaze, the lights too look to be the similar units from the Elevate which if makes it way to the production model would be one of the USPs of Amaze since Elevate has one of the strongest projector units in its segment.https://www.rushlane.com/2025-honda-...-12510888.html

The rear is just too eerily similar to the City, when coupled with the Obsidian Blue paint shade definitely looks like miniature City, maybe it's a last ditch effort by Honda Cars India to boost their volumes since there ain't much left in the City's volumes to be cannibalised in the first place, also considering the 5th gen City was launched worldwide in late 2019 and mid 2020 in India, the 6th gen model is due next year which might be radically different in design from the outgoing model, therefore effectively differentiating both the sedans and also it saves them from the efforts of selling both the generation of City concurrently(which they did last time around). Let's see what's in store at Honda when they officially launch the Amaze on 4th December and when we get to see renders of all new City sometime next year.

Thank you
Tony

Looks are subjective, though I don't like the chrome strip at front in the current gen Amaze, which by the looks is removed and there is hexagonal honeycomb grill ( the grill looks slightly like next gen Accord if I may add)

re: Next-gen Honda Amaze launched at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom)

If Honda India can botch-up a brand new product like Elevate then I have less hopes for a facelift or new gen product. Competiton have moved leaps and bounds. Its time Honda wakes-up and smells the coffee. They need to go all guns blazing to stay relevant in the market. Considering there are no future launches from them for next 24 months this is a make or break for them.

Having extensively driven my B-I-L's 3rd gen City I know Honda can make premium aspirational products; but do they want to? Only time will tell.

When all the Mercs can look like each other, then why not the Honda siblings! I can't wait to see this OTR. Honda does a proper CVT in their cars and this car would be a worthy upgrade for my jerky AMT Tiago!

re: Next-gen Honda Amaze launched at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom)

New Honda Amaze test drives to begin by mid-December.

Quote:
New Amaze to get City-like looks
Interior will have shared bits from the Elevate
It will have the same 1.2-litre petrol engine
On the inside, the new Amaze will most likely share the same dashboard layout as the Elevate, replete with the same infotainment screen and switchgear. There could be minor differences in shades and material.

there are plans for an Amaze CNG as well, which will go on sale a little later.

re: Next-gen Honda Amaze launched at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom)

So happy to see the 3rd generation Amaze. At least this time can we expect an Amaze with a more powerful engine option and features like 360 degree camera and ventilated seats (at least in dreams)?
