Next-gen Honda Amaze launched at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom)

Mod Note: Our 2024 Honda Amaze Review has been taken live at this link. Please continue the discussion over on the new thread. Thanks!

According to a media report, the third-generation Honda Amaze is likely to be launched in India this Diwali.

The new Amaze is said to be based on the same platform as the City and Elevate. However, it will be modified to achieve a sub-4 metre overall length and a shorter wheelbase.

In terms of styling, the new Amaze could borrow design cues from its stablemates, the City and Elevate. We can expect a clean and simple exterior design that’s typical of Honda. Inside, the car is expected to get a larger, free-standing touchscreen infotainment system similar to that of the Elevate.

Reports suggest that the next-gen Amaze will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine. It is said that the 1.2-litre 4-cylinder unit from the current model is likely to be carried over. It produces 89 BHP and 110 Nm and is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT.

Hope this launch does not take away that one slot from 'One New Product per year' strategy of Honda for the year, 2024.

On the positive side, this could follow the current Honda sedan design pattern, which looks interesting.

Since it’s a new generation and not a facelift I’m afraid it’s likely to count. There is no news of any SUV this year and if the ACI rumour of Honda wanting to drop the current Amaze platform in India entirely is true, then the new WR-V (ASEAN) must be off the cards too.

IMHO Honda should plan one more SUV for India. New Amaze will not make much difference as people are moving away from sedans in general. Only Dzire is selling in numbers in that space. Rest all sedans together also not doing much compared to SUV market. Just see numbers of Nexon, Creta, Seltos, Grand Vitara, etc. are doing. For long term, better invest in SUV which can compete with others to gain more numbers. I think that is the need of the hour.

re: Next-gen Honda Amaze launched at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom)

Eagerly waiting for this. I was expecting it to be launched around June or July this year. I prefer the current Amaze over the current Dzire, sales numbers be damned. The Amaze is a much better proportioned vehicle compared to its peers, not to forget its safety rating. However, I am still thinking that the new Dzire would run away with the market, given its coming with the new Z series engine with better torque, and more importantly, hybrid tech.

Honda is looking to launch a compact SUV as well, based on the Amaze, which might probably come next year.

Sorry to burst the bubble but this is US Honda Accord with low effort edit of putting "NEW CITY" plate by clickbait media.

That is awesome news. But I dont see how they can update it if they are planning to drop the Amaze platform in India entirely. This shall further solidify Hondas portfolio in India. But lets hope that it wont gobble up the one car per year commitment of Honda.
Planning to add a second car to the City for small runs and city runs where parking is an issue. And would love nothing more than another Honda.

re: Next-gen Honda Amaze launched at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom)

What is the likelihood of the Amaze being a brand new and well designed car, and not end up looking like a Brio with a boot or a City which was driven bonnetfirst into a wall?

The current Amaze is exactly that. A well designed car that was not based on the Brio and didn't have a stubby boot.

Isn't the current Amaze based on the Brio sold in Indonesia market?

Not sure how true this news might be. A Honda Amaze based on the Honda City platform but sub 4 meter will simply not be feasible from a pricing perspective. No one buying a car in the sub 4 meter sedan category would be willing to pay a premium for the Honda badge.

No, this is the same 1st gen Brio in your picture, Honda just gave it a new face and rear for ASEAN markets, look through the interior pictures it's all same as our Indian facelift Brio.

2nd Gen Amaze is grounds up product from Honda related only to 4th Gen City (chassis wise).

While extending platform sharing is a good move, not prioritising an SUV in sub4m space is odd. Given that even Skoda is launching one, Honda has to play to stay relevant

Fair point sir, but that's where my second part of my question comes into play. Personally always felt that the front looked a bit like a 4th gen City that's been punched in the face.
