Re: Your favourite stock colour (paint) option from a car manufacturer

Interesting thread this—oftentimes, as automobile enthusiasts, it gets hard to choose a paint shade out of various options on offer—and haven’t many of us felt a particular make/model came in some colour of one’s choice from another manufacturer. The dilemma is compounded by manufacturers who restrict body colour/interior choices only for select trims and/or special editions.

Anyway, back on topic, here are a few stock colours offered by car manufacturers that’ve caught my eye over the years (in no particular chronological order and/or order of preference):

Porsche cars in Gulf Blue ( in fact most of their blues are droolworthy ;-P )

LR Defender D110, in Tasman Blue metallic

Škoda Superb Sportline in Steel Grey (if not for the lack of features compared to its L&K sibling, this would’ve been in my garage)

Audi A6 Chronos grey metallic (such a headturner!)

Mini Countryman in British Racing Green

Ford Mustang GT (1968) in Highland Green (made famous by Steve McQueen in Bullitt)

I was not a fan of gray either, until I saw Dravit grey in BMWs. It's literally eye-catching, and one day my wife had to pull me away as she saw me drifting dangerously close to one !! That said, I still don't like most other grey interpretations in other cars.

Black is the toughest color to maintain, but there's no denying it's appeal when done right. Off hand, I think one of the best stock blacks was the older Skoda Superb (pic taken from tbhp official review) :

Blue is hot when matched to a screaming Shelby :

Of course, as most agree here, Porsche has nailed it with the aptly named Mamba green of the Taycan :

A Mustang can be menacing in any color, but yellow screams even louder than it's exhausts :

The big bad G looks hot in white :

And finally, for a bit of entertainment, try reading these Ferrari red shades out loud in your best Italian impersonation :

Black sedan is cool but silver is classy. BMW Pure Metal Silver.
IIRC, It was last offered in M5 in India.
