Best Air Conditioning Segment wise

Hi All,

Can we all share our views, on which car in each segment has the best air-conditioning. Can we catogarise in the following way.

Hatch-back - Alto, Indica, Santro, Getz, swift, palio etc.
Sedan - Esteem, Ikon, Indigo etc
High end Sedan's - SX4, Cedia, skoda, optra etc

To a person like myself, I give a lot of importance to AC in a car and how it perform's, a good AC for me is a very very big must. I find the Alto AC good even compared to my Zen.

Interesting topic.

Palio 1.6 sure has good AC than Xing. Alto and M800 has same setup?

Alto has the best AC in the lower segment---it is the same AC that's in a WagonR, but the volume to be cooled is much lower in an Alto, hence it is damn effective.
In 'high end sedans', I have found Fiesta's AC much more effective that SX4, Verna or Honda City.
Optra, Cedia, and Skoda are much higher in the segment, so i dont know.

Baleno Vxi with Auto A/C is one of the Best in the Sedan class. It is much better than Fiesta, Verna or Honda City. One of the article even claims to better than S-Class

I dont know how we are ever going to reach a consensus here !
To each one, in most probability, the air-conditioning in his car is the best.

Maybe all you chaps should try the AC of the Baleno.Damn gets really cold and way too fast.
Have driven quite a few of the other sedans and found that the baleno has the best AC in terms of cooling.
Cant keep the AC running for long continuously, need to toggle between on and off.

In the VXI versions its easier to keep a tab since they have the Climate Control options.
My vote goes for the Baleno's AC not because I own one, but for the fact that it cools real fast.

edit : Benny you should maybe try the Baleno's AC.

in 2004 or 2005 there was a detailed study on the performance of AC in the summer of Rajasthan (to be more specific the Thar Desert) and the Baleno's AC was rated better than the S Class. Will go home today and try to dig out the article. But a lot of other cars have entered the scene after that and we may need a fresh performance test.

Also, according to the report... Indica's AC is as good or shall we say as worse as 800's! This isnt possible... indica has one of the better AC's in hatchback segment.

Alto's AC best? Maybe with car at standstill !!

Indica is anyday better - put on 2 and drive all day in delhi heat (while it works!)

Spark's AC is also pretty good (for mumbai weather, donno how it'll take peak delhi heat!).

The Zen's A/C sucks, period. It's especially anaemic during city drives on hot summer days. I've recharged the refrigerant a couple of times but it doesn't make much difference. I'm sure it's much worse at the back and am often in a quandary whether to even put the A/C on or just put the windows down and manage with the cross ventilation. I agree that the Alto has a better A/C from sitting in a friend's car - it does a decent job dealing with the Pune summer.
