Force Motors has dropped another teaser of the 2024 Gurkha. The SUV will get several updates including a refreshed interior and new features.

The Force Gurkha will be available in 3-door and 5-door body styles. The latter could be offered with a 7-seat layout featuring a bench seat in the second row and two individual seats in the third row.

The latest teaser also reveals some of the new features offered in the 2024 Gurkha. The SUV gets a new digital instrument cluster and a large touchscreen infotainment system in the centre.

Moving to the centre console area, the traditional 4x4 selector has been replaced with a knob, which looks cleaner and frees up a lot of space. The Gurkha will also get traction control and multiple airbags as part of its safety kit.

The updated Gurkha along with the 5-door version is expected to get the same 2.6-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine as before. This unit puts out 91 BHP and 250 Nm and will be paired with a 4-wheel drive system.

A better steering wheel would have made a lot of sense in 2024

Also they do have the same engine in Traveller with a different tune - 114 bhp and 350 Nm, should have used it instead of the existing one. I think torque figures for this engine is impressive.

I think in that tune, we have to use adblue while the current tune doesnít need that.

BS6.2 requires AdBlue regardless of engine tune. The teaser confirms the presence of it in the instrument cluster. Tata seems to be the only exemption here. Even Mahindra 1.5 diesel has AdBlue.

In that case, they should bring the 115bhp , at least for the 5 door model.

They should. But as per Sirish Chandran's instagram post, he believes power is around 140hp. If that is so, then excellent. Else 115 is good but not great.

Re: 2024 Force Gurkha interior & features revealed in new teaser

I hate to say this, but they need to keep the 4x4 shifting mechanism purely mechanical, just like the way they are keeping the Diff lock levers. Electric shifts are prone to failure during water wading situations.

Anything less than 140bhp and 350Nm will not suffice, owing to the weight and size of this behemoth. I hope they must have rectified the poor ground clearance issue due to the weird front suspension arm design by now.

Force needs to muster courage by giving atleast what the competition offers, in order to survive the onslaught by the launch of 5 door Thar Armada on 15 August.

They had 140bhp only with the now discontinued 2.2l engine. I think the 2.6 had a maximum of 115bhp only, even the Urbania gets that much only. 140 bhp is possible only if they upgrade the old 2.2l engine.

If I remember correctly, 2.2 engine was discontinued because of the BS6 emission norms. So I donít think thatís even a possibility.

Re: 2024 Force Gurkha interior & features revealed in new teaser

They need to come out of utility mindset. 4x4 in India is not necessity, it is a luxury, a sport, a fun ride, some thing for the adventure weekend. So offer great product with high quality components and charge premium for that. The target audience here is not price sensitive, they want capability for fun not for meeting their daily errands.

When Indians are buying 9K Innova Hycross, 15K scorpios, 7K XUV700 & 5K Harrier/ Safari monthly, then Gurkha with the right offerings and premium of 2 to 5L will find its spot among Indian buyers

Disappointed with Seats, Gear Lever / Knobs, Steering, there is nothing to look up to

I don't think any prospective buyer walked out of a Force showroom because the instrument cluster didn't have a tacky low res screen in it.

The tachometer has numbers one to five marked around it. Is that suggestive for the gear change? If so, 5th gear is used only on redlining. Then, there are two fuel level indicators. So, one has to take the average of both and arrive at the quantity inside the tank?

I think one or the fuel level indicators is for DEF. If so, its nice. in UVs from Mahindra, you can also guess the level of DEF and carry spare DEF with you.

The 1-2-3-4-5 is the tachometer. Shows the rpm. x1000rpm is clearly mentioned there in the middle. The car will display which gear it is in, as indicated by that “N”.

I assume there is no gear shift indicator in Gurkha. No potential Gurkha buyer is going to want/need a gear shifting indicator ever.

The two gauges on the right side are for the DEF level (inner one) and the fuel level (outer one).

Re: 2024 Force Gurkha interior & features revealed in new teaser

The engine tune will be the most decisive factor. The existing 250nm motor wasn't weak by any definition but definitely felt it could have with more oomph. I hope they provide the 350nm tune this time. 250nm in the 7-seater variant will feel quite dull. I hope they price it competitively and it sells in high numbers. We need more true 4x4 SUV choices.

Dashboard design remains unchanged? They've handpicked what requires a change to take on the mighty Thar seems like. Half hearted attempt or restricted resource from source maybe?

Regardless, it's a good thing they're trying to take the fight head on with the segment best, if I can call it
