Guys,

The Palio is my favourite car, though I don't own one...

Why is it the I see more Palio's bashed-up from the back (ok, not "bashed-up" but dented to some extent in any case) than any other car?

Is it because of the bulbous rear end? Or... are Palios' plain unlucky?

What do you guys think? Is it something to do with the design of the car?

Dented Palios pain me.

LOL... i guess... it has better brakes than indians expected.

same was with zen... first vaccum assisted brakes in small car.

but somehow... people didn't get Wagon R or Alto's back kicked... though the 8" booster sometimes works like on/off brakes.

same with City Vtecs.. .. no backs kicked... though heard.. has really good brakes.

I remembering thinking about the same thing when the Zen got popular. With its bubble hatch, it was not uncommon to see a dented hatch or two everyday.

U got my thoughts dude.. i was thinking this the other day.. 99% of the Palios i see on the road have a dent.. major parts of dents are mainly that right end corner, headlights out of their place due to a front impact!
I guess they should put a sticker saying " Put no Dents" like the ones on the walls having "Stick no Bills"!!!

This might sound wierd but have you tried standing behind a Palio or Zen, resting your butt on it's butt? LOL

Many people have this habit. Even my Vtec has these small dips near the hood that look like dents created by people resting their palms on it.

So how do you xplain the bumps on the palio? There's no way it can be caused by a car or a bike, cos the it's just too high for that.

Has to be due to people resting their bodies on it.

pal, no way people's backsides can make dents like the ones we r talking about here.

and yeah , the city has a flimsy build quality compared to the palio !!

The City only feels light. Almost every other City does a 100000 kilometers without any wear and tear to show for it.

Autocarindia and Overdrive...their test City Vtecs did 50000 without any rattles to show for it. And we all know how test-drivers keep their cars. Heck, Overdrives test cars are always being banged and dented!

Heavy does not necessarily mean better, else the Ambassador & Mahindra Armada would rule the roost. It depends on how the car is put together, Theres a subtle but important difference in "feeling" flimsy and being actually put together in a flimsy manner.

Remember, the second hand car prices not only reflect demand but also the rate of depreciation (Depreciation is a direct component of wear and tear). Why do you think the City enjoys such great resale while the Lancer and Palio dont?

Look how high the bulge in the rear is. What else could possibly create a bump there?

Shan2nu

Could it be the fact that when you are reversing the car, the bulge is not visible from inside and corners are easily damaged that way? In other cars the bumper would hit the wall or whatever and the car would stop stop but since you have a protrusion, it hits the obstacle...

If it is in fact true that Palios have a greater percentage of dents than other cars, it may be because of the poor visibility that they have relative to other cars.

So you mean to say most damages happen at speeds of around 5-20kmph, while reversing. Hmmmm....

Then how come the dents are big (as someone mentioned).

Shan2nu

Can some one post any pics of a rear dented, Palio?

a hit at 5-20kmph can cauz a big dent...anytime!!!
If u r reversing at 10kmph and u hit a pillar in ur parking garage... the car is sure to have a big dent than a small scratch!!
