When you feel like buying a car which you really don’t want is when you know the manufacturer has done a tremendous job and this is not even taking into consideration the price announced for the base model.

What I like from the videos that I have seen till now is the space offered in the second row be it legroom, under thigh support or headroom all are spot on unlike in the Curvv EV especially where you’re knees are pointing upwards like in the third row of most MPV’s and lack of headroom.

Hopefully this car has good high speed manners which the three door version lacks.

I know I'd be the odd man out when I say this, but IMO the overall look/shape doesn't seem cohesive. Can't put a finger on exactly what it is, but in comparison the dimensions of the 3 door Thar seem more proportionate to me. Anyway, good luck to M&M with their latest offering.

Looks like vehicle that I was looking for - an ideal mix or blend of an SUV with elements of a passenger car creature comforts is what Thar Roxx all about.

- Not all variants are out & they’ve not given 4x4 prices either.
- Thar Roxx price starts Rs 1.64 lakh higher than the 3-door model.
-Thar Roxx base MX1 variant gets 10.25-inch touchscreen, 18-inch wheels
-Entry-level trim gets petrol and diesel engine options
-Manual gearbox only for base variant
- 4x4 gets an electronic locking differential and it’s only on the diesel

Mahindra has equipped the entry level Thar Roxx variant with LED lighting, a dual-tone exterior finish, 18-inch steel wheels, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, push button start, driver's seat height adjust, 60:40 split folding rear bench seats, rear AC vents and a rear USB-C port. In terms of safety kit, the MX1 variant comes with six airbags, ESC, and three-point seat belts for all passengers.

This base Roxx variant comes with a 162hp, 330Nm, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with a manual gearbox, and a 152hp, 330Nm 2.2-litre diesel engine and a manual gearbox. The MX1 features a multilink rear syspension setup with Watts linkage, Mahindra's ‘Frequency Dependent Damping’ technology that is said to enhance ride quality, and an electronic power steering.

In terms of off-road capability, Mahindra says the Roxx MX1, which is also equipped with a brake locking diff, has a water wading depth of 650mm, and approach and departure angles of 41.3 degrees and 36.1 degrees, respectively.

The Roxx MX3 adds drive modes (Zip and Zoom) and terrain modes (snow, sand and mud), a rear camera, hill ascent and descent asist, and a traction control system; the petrol-automatic also gets rear disc brakes. In terms of features, this variant adds cruise control, a rear seat arm rest and an auto-dimming IRVM, along with wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and smartphone charging.

Compared to the MX3, the AX3 L adds ADAS features, a 10.25-inch digital driver display, and an automatic climate control system.

Mahindra Thar Roxx MX5 features, powertrain
The MX5 further gets C-shaped LED DRLs, LED fog lights, 18-inch alloy wheels, a single pane sunroof, leatherette seats and steering cover, ambient lighting, a tyre pressure monitor, auto headlight and wipers, and front parking sensors. 4x4 tech is an option on this variant, and these versions get an electronic locking diff too.

Mahindra Thar Roxx AX5 L, AX7 L features, powertrain
While the AX5 L adds an electronic parking brake to the MX5's features, the top-spec AX7 L gets a panoramic sunroof, 19-inch alloys, powered 6-way adjustable driver's seat, ventilated front seats, a cooled glove box, a front camera and 360 degree cameras, a blind spot monitor, power folding ORVMs and a 9-speaker Harmon Kardon audio system.

The range-topping Thar Roxx AX7 L 4x4 variants also get a 'Smart Crawl' and a 'Intelliturn' feature. The former is a off-road cruise control system that can be activated between 2.5kph and 30kph, while the latter allows the Roxx to make extremely tight turns by locking the rear inner wheel based on the steering direction. This feature operates at speeds under 15kph and can only be activated for 15 seconds
