I may draw a lot of flak from current Thar 3D owners for saying this but as far as the looks are concerned, this looks almost equally good if not better than the Thar 3D. Being lifestyle vehicles, check and compare on the sales numbers for both in another 12 months to concur.

My opinion (controversial as it maybe), that Mahindra might *very soon* discontinue the 3D Thar and sell only the 5D Thar RoXX in the lineup.

Reason being, that the 3D Thar sales would be cannibalized to a great extent, and will not find many takers. The only market for Thar 3D would be the hardcore offroaders, who are looking for a weekend lifestyle vehicle, and that too in the 4X4 avatar. And that would be less than 1% of total prospective Thar buyers.

So eventually (and it might be very soon, like by Q1 2025), Mahindra might offload all the existing stock of Thar 3D RWD completely, discontinue it and sell only the Thar 5D RWD/4WD and keep only a handful stock of Thar 3D 4WD till demand (whatsoever 1% is still there) for the niche segment and eventually stop it too.

Seems like Mahindra has hit the bulls eye - a practical yet highly desirable car. If they manage to get the ride comfort even 80% of that of a Scorpio-N, this could very well be considered a primary family car. This was not the case with the 3D Thar, which was only considered a second or third car, and was used primarily for personal transport or driver + passenger.

With the 5 Doors, Mahindra has also managed to hit the final nail on Maruti Jimny's coffin. Rest in peace Jimny!!

He did inadvertently announce the AX7L RWD AT price - 19.99L

Prices are good overall. The Thar AX7L D MT is 18.99 lac ex. I wish this price was for the AT one instead. I'll mostly be booking the AX7L AT RWD, expecting it at 19.99.

The 4x4 AT top end will be well over 21 lac, and probably not for me, especially since driving in 4x4 mode on paved roads (even the poor ones) is a nono.

Comparing the approx 3.5 Lakhs premium 4X4 mechanicals and AT gearbox command in case of Scorpio-N, the AX7L AT 4X4 should be priced around 22.49 Lakhs.
