If they are going to be using Rover bits and pieces (although I doubt it) then I would be worried about the quality especially if they went for the Rover developed K series engine that was used on the Freelanders. It is one of the worst engines out there and prone to head gasket failure.

i believe the vehicle was up at display podium at the recently concluded auto

expo...the vehicle is being produced in technical collaboration with with UK'S MG ROVER

group...Sonalika Group Chairman L D Mittal said the company is in the process of

developing a four wheeler to be run on hydrogen.

Its a turbo-charged Isuzu (the one in the Amby/Conti is NA), which makes it similar to the engine on the Kazwa (another one-off MPV, made by a bidi manufacturer in Kerala)...which was pretty good.

I think the Rover talk was just for public consumption, so that nobody asks them how they can go on their own. I dont see how Rover can contribute to this project, except by jacking up the cost.

The DLX is pretty well equipped. Also, according to the specs, it complies to Bharat II norms. So no Rhino for Pune/Mumbai/Delhi/Bangalore etc. 75 PS from a turbocharged 2L ? Is it an ohv engine?

The rover engine developed jointly by icml and rover is a real gem. there are lot of takers for that engine one among them are proton from malaysia. if the icml want to capture india market then they should put rover engine into a redesigned rhino. then it will do wonders. And also will be an inspiration for indian manufacturers.

Is this engine present on the rhino rover, since there was talk about Hindustan motors supplying the engines(at least initially).

Also any tech specs of the engine(the rover one),because I have heard there would be two variants of the rover engines producing around 100 and 130 bhp(both 2 L).

Rhino

Hello All

I recently saw a Rhino in Bangalore. This was standing in front of Prerana Motors Bangalore. It was white in color, when i saw it first, i was wondering which is this vehicle, but when i was closing...i saw the name Rhino behind it. I was not able to take any snap cos it was on a busy road and was not able to stop my car for a long time... just parked for couple of seconds and watched the vehicle.

But the looks of the car was good, finish was good, it is shorter than Safari.... cos it was parked behind safari, so was able to judge. I was not able to see the front cos it was parked behind Safari.

Thats it.... if i see it again...will take snaps...

Regards
Deepak

Overdrive's report on ICML's initiatives / progress on the Rhino look pretty impressive for a startup to accomplish in 3 odd years.

Good luck ICML !!!

Hell Rider

The overdrive report is close to an year old report, I dont think ICML has been able to acheive any of the intiatives/progress that they have talked about in that report, fact is I have not seen a single vehicle or a dealership. I feel they have some big time issues that they are still fighting to resolve else they would have started selling them by now.
