In it's latest issue Overdrive has reported that BMW is going to spend Rs. 9 crores, if i remember correctly to launch the Mini in India.
Should we take this report seriously?

Damn!!! That would be brilliant! Of course i am sure the mini cooper is going to be priced too high even if it is launched. Oh well... atleast we will be able to see a few on our roads. I have always wanted a mini cooper.. it looks just brilliant.. and with our traffic it makes brilliant sense too... How unfortunate that i am not as rich as i would like to have been..

Wow, if this is true, then forget the Suzuki Swift, it is Mini Cooper for me.

However, the basic model (Mini One) costs £ 10,000 in the UK and the Cooper costs more. If is is being imported as a CBU into India I can't see BMW being able to price it for this cost-sensitive market. It will be the story of the F650 Funduro (BMW motorbike costing 4 lakhs) repeated once again.

Ok here are the actual prices and specs for USA and UK. Cars are more expensive in the UK due to higher taxes etc. If the Mini comes to India they will probably cut some features to reduce the price, and maybe detune the engine to cope with the lower quality fuel.

1. Mini One
Engine --> 1598cc
Power --> 90 bhp
Torque --> 140 Nm
0-62 Mph (0-99 Kph) --> 10.9s
Top speed --> 112 Mph (179 Kph)
Price --> £ 10,780 on road UK, not available in the USA.

2. Mini Cooper
Engine --> 1598cc
Power --> 115 bhp
Torque --> 149 Nm
0-62 Mph (0-99 Kph) --> 9.1s
Top speed --> 124 Mph (198 Kph)
Price --> £ 12,100 on road UK, $17,920 MSRP USA

well sorry guys but one of the main reasons for me stop buying overdrive was because all their facts arenot correct...
bmw is a bit too wise and know what type of car is suitable for indian markets
nevertheless if it does come , then we all can stand and gape at the car
