Stellar starting price for sure. However, the price difference between the NA and turbo variants could have been lesser IMO.

Citroen has dropped the 'C3' moniker from the Aircross. Now it's called the Citroen Aircross. I wonder, how will they rename the C5 Aircross then?

Request to Mods, please edit the thread and title.

So no automatic variant for the NA petrol engine? Seriously what a bummer!

Re: 2024 Citroen Aircross launched at Rs 8.49 lakh

The base 1.2 NA is certainly underpowered for a big car, but if the new safety features are standard and the ride is as good as they say, it looks like quite the bargain for the sedate driver who needs a large boot, especially considering it undercuts even the Ertiga. More like an upgrade from a Triber if nothing else. I never realised the Carens now starts at 10.5L ex-showroom as opposed to the 9 it was launched at.

But the big gap between the two NA variants tells me they have probably removed the safety features from the base variant to keep the starting price low, like they did with the C3 update last month. I can seem to find the brochure as the website shows me the old one.

1.2 Turbo is the model to go for as NA engine will be no fun at all for this sized car. It starts from 11.95, that means it will go around 14 -15 depending on which city you are from. That's not a good pricing IMHO as one can get cars like Creta, Seltos, Grand Vitara, etc. in similar price range and are well proven cars. They should have priced it more aggressively as they are very new here and their service, reliability is not proven yet. All I can say is All the best Citroen.

Re: 2024 Citroen Aircross launched at Rs 8.49 lakh

This is the bare minimum feature set and engine choice with which Citroen Aircross should have been launched initially. Instead they did a piecemeal job by launching an undercooked turbo manual, adding an automatic, NA engine, Six airbags and ACC one after another in 1.5 years. This could be a case study on how to screw a competent product launch.

The current 5 seater version with NA engine could be a good airport cab. I hope Citroen will add CNG to the mix to make it more appealing to cabbies. And a few more colours please. Where is the red Aircross which was showcased before launch. The turbo automatic top end is tempting enough if some year end discounts are offered in December for value cautious individual buyers. You get a versatile 7 seater with excellent ride and engine with all must have features and safety kit.

Re: 2024 Citroen Aircross launched at Rs 8.49 lakh

It's good to see that Citroen is listening to the feedback and bringing out updates at a fast pace.

Introducing the naturally aspirated engine is a brilliant idea. Naturally aspirated petrols capture a huge chunk of the 4.3 metre segment. Most, if not all, offer mediocre performance. Astor's 1.5 NA is one example.

Remains to be seen, how Citroen's 1.2 fares against the 1.5s of the competition, in terms of performance and fuel economy. I have read that it's good for a 1.2 in the C3. Some even called it the best NA three cylinder 1.2 in the market. Hoping to see a comparison review soon.

I do wonder, If Citroen is trying to target the naturally aspirated competition, why are they not offering the AirCross in the top end variant. Going by the difference they are charging in the turbo petrol variants, it's only 75k.

Assuming, they keep the same difference, for 10.75 lakhs, a top end AirCross with the naturally aspirated engine will not be a bad deal for many.

Great Car and decent Packaging. Still feel that Turbo variants are priced way too high for what it offers. However, deep discounts on this car will continue most probably, and can make it a decent buy. I will highly recommend this car if someone is opting for a Triber in the NA guise.

Looks good and lots of improvement to the kit provided. However,

- Boring set of color options. One white, two greys and a blue. That's it ? How about a red or black ?

- Still no Cruise Control. A miss like this in C3 is fine. But not for something that costs ~ 20 Lakhs

Re: 2024 Citroen Aircross launched at Rs 8.49 lakh

This is a highly competitive segment and the buyer shopping here has higher than average income leading to super high aspirations w.r.t. everything. So, even after these feature additions, C3 Aircross has a mountain to climb! Some variants are comparable to base models of Creta etc but then that buyer may hardly consider a Citroen.

It still lacks,
  • Ventilated seats
  • Powerful engines, Turbo variants of Hyundai, Kia, Mahindra are way more powerful, also refinement.
  • ADAS
  • Cruise control
  • Sunroof !
  • 5 star XCAP

Only the budget focused buyer is likely to consider the lower NA variants. Basalt though, being a positioned in the niche coupe segment has better chance of market success.

Many buyers get the base / mid variants and then go aftermarket for upgrades. The logic is, they get the prestige of a much more expensive car at a cheaper price. In this scenario, the Citroen indeed fails.

The base model could make a stellar taxi cab, Ertiga finally has some competition!

It's barely a 7 seater. Unless they modify the platform to accommodate a larger boot, it will always be a 5 seater with 2 added seats in the back.

Re: 2024 Citroen Aircross launched at Rs 8.49 lakh

It is not right to compare the Aircross with something like the Creta IMO, it is one of the cheapest 7-seater and the only 7-seater if you want some fun-to-drive factor. It is a slightly premium and more powerful alternative to the Triber. For someone who wants a car in between the Triber and the Ertiga, the Aircross would make perfect sense as The Triber and the Ertiga are not "fun to drive" by any means of imagination.

However, if you want the fully loaded Max variant, you have to go for the turbo irrespective of whether you need the added performance or not.

If you want a simple automatic, you again have to go for the turbo, regardless of whether you need the added performance or not.

So, you will have to compromise on one or the other thing if you are on a tight budget. The variant spread could've been done better.
