TATA Motors Passenger Vehicles sales show a decline for Aug 07, Exports Up

The passenger vehicle business achieved total sales of 16,620 vehicles in the domestic market in August 2007, a decline of 5% over August 2006. The Indica reported sales of 11,396 nos., a decline of 4% over August 2006. The Indigo family registered sales of 2,192 nos., a growth of 1% over August 2006. The Sumo and Safari accounted for sales of 3,032 nos., a decline of 12% over August 2006.

Cumulative sales of passenger vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal were flat at 85,471 nos. Cumulative sales of the Indica were flat at 57,092 nos. Cumulative sales of the Indigo family were 11,984 nos., a decline of 8%. Cumulative sales of Sumo and Safari were 16,395 nos., an increase of 5.3%.

The company's sales from exports at 5,093 vehicles in August 2007 grew by 8% as compared to 4,715 vehicles in August 2006. The cumulative sales from exports in the current period at 23,297 nos. have recorded a marginal growth of 1.4% over the previous year.
