Re: 2025 Jeep Meridian launched in India; gets ADAS and more

One of the most commonly used sentences in our forum is - "If I was in the market for XYZ budget, then I will definitely ...".

You are only putting your words, not money Anyone and everyone can do that.

Even here, many want to put it only at the top of the list and not really the car that they would buy!

In reality, there are so many red flags for buying a Jeep today. Let us stop blaming people for not buying cars from such inconsistent players in the market.

Coming back to the main topic, a super decision on the price cut by Jeep. Let us hope things turn better for them.

Re: 2025 Jeep Meridian launched in India; gets ADAS and more

Jeep’s primary buyer is urban
\/
Urban folks love AT
\/
AT is still overpriced

I rest my case.

Now Compass needs a better price cut for Jeep to float.

Re: 2025 Jeep Meridian launched in India; gets ADAS and more

With Jeep launching Meridian 5 seater, most likely they will stop Compass - atleast until the new gen is launched. Though I am not a fan of the way Meridian looks (it looks more like a van for me, love Compass for its looks), still feel Meridian makes more sense than Compass.

But these are not going to help much as Meridian seriously need a better performing engine. Also the competition have moved much ahead.

Decent starting price for what is a good-looking, well-sized, solidly built and well-mannered SUV . The Diesel AT combination is also decent to drive, even if the gearbox doesn't have the smartest tuning.

If the Jeep Meridian would have been properly priced from day 1, things would be very different. Now, Jeep needs to correct the stiff AT premiums, although the inevitable discounts will take care of that.

Wow, this is good news! I was looking for Thar Roxx and now I may go for Meridian. I know both have different use cases, but Meridian is making it easier with the new pricing! I just enquired with Pride showroom in Hyderabad and they are already delivering new vehicles from end of this week. Such a pleasure to hear in the state of waiting times!

I just went to the Compass thread and saw the number of complaints around service . So, more than engine specs, that alone will dissuade me from picking this up.

Longitude plus with the features it offers is a very good VFM proposition. Yes, competitors in this segment if you can say XUV700 and Harrier offer ADAS at a much lower price, but I feel this is a good trade off to consider. I just wish they had added the adaptive cruise control instead of the regular one.

I hope Jeep throws some festive discounts to add customers and get some cars on road

Finally, with the 5 seat option, they have pretty much ensured that the Compass will not get ADAS and the only option is to wait for the next generation which may never see the light for Indian market IMHO

Re: 2025 Jeep Meridian launched in India; gets ADAS and more

I have always loved the design of the Compass and the Meridian. Fresh, modern, and distinctive. Never considered it as it was way out of my budget, for what it offered.

I have no use for a car this big. But if this percolates down to the Compass, then the Compass moves toward the top of the list. The timeless design, quality interiors, and driving dynamics warrant a 10L difference to the nearest competitors for me.

Why do you guys say that JEEP wont bring in the new Compass to India? is it something they have stated out before? Is this Meridian similar in specifications to what's sold outside India?

Just want to know. Appreciate your responses in advance.

GTO, I agree with you but I feel Jeep India has somewhat irretrievably destroyed it's reputation with the constant niggles, inconsistent service experience, patchy dealer network and last (but not the least), the abysmal resale value!

At least in BLR + among my pan-India extended friend / colleague circles, Jeep is simply not in the mind space of anyone considering a SUV. It unfortunately falls in between the VFM Safari, Hector Plus, Roxx and the 'badge' Audi Q3, X1 etc.

I love the Meridian's looks myself, but cannot risk buying one.

I recognize I am in the minority, but barring low fuel efficiency (mileage) & 1 instance of overheating, in 3 years of owning a Petrol DCT Compass, I havnt got any major complaints. Done 31,000 KM today. keeping fingers crossed of course; I guess if one takes care of the car, Jeeps could last long. I do sincerely hope they bring in petrol engine for Compass/Meridian and do some justice to the product lineup - the Meridian re-launch is in the right direction. They need to do what Ford did with rebranding their service costs & fixing the image. With that hopefully they stay in India longer.

I agree with sapien, with easier access to service centres and willingness to spend on a depreciating asset, the urban buyer will continue to be primary target audience.

Re: 2025 Jeep Meridian launched in India; gets ADAS and more

From the photos online, it does not seem that Jeep has modified the rear seats for the 5-seater compared to the 7-seater. I was expecting, like Honda did for the CR-V, that the 5-seater would have more comfortable rear seats compared to the 7-seater because you have more space to play with and hence slide the seats a bit further back.

The Meridien's middle row was very cramped for such a large SUV (especially compared to the Kodiaq and XUV700), and it looks like the 5-seater will have the same. That's a downer for what could have been a very good package for the lower price tag of the 5-seater.

Yet another miss by Jeep and Stellantis group. Someone needs to change in Stellantis product planning for Citroen and Jeep. They don't seem to have any clue.

This observation is absolutely spot on. The reputation is so down and out that any amount of price-engineering will not bring it back and that is precisely why most of us and the large population as pointed by you will not buy one even if we like the looks.

Perfect example of this is the fact that the legend of all time 4x4 sitting in their stable (read Wrangler) is going abegging. With so many great FNGs, even with the poor service of Jeep ASCs, many of us could have taken the risk of going for Wrangler but passed because of the reputation and uncertainty. Price of course was another killer. Unlike Ford which still has ASCs running and Spares available over the counter for FNGs, we do not have the same trust with Jeep. That is how badly the brand has been sabotaged in India. Who else but their leadership in India to blame.

Re: 2025 Jeep Meridian launched in India; gets ADAS and more

Having squandered away the opportunity to position Meridian as an alternative to Fortuner with its uninspiring engine, Jeep did what it could do best; to position Meridian one notch lower and as an alternate to Compass which is anyway slacking.

And given where they are with sales, Meridian in place of a Compass is not a bad thing at the revised and lower price point. While this is a survival tactic, they could have played in the front foot with a 200+ bhp engine on the first go with Meridian; for sure a lost opportunity.

Have seen that International masters seldom read the market right and their Indian reps are given no voice on the high table, result is this.
