As I have maintained before, let the market decide whether its overpriced or underpowered.

I wanted Honda to make ABS/Airbags optional across all variants so that people you want can opt for it and steal the 'Safety Thunder' buzzword from Maruti.

I thought there was a rule passed saying you had to give 5 alloys and not 4. Then why do honda have only 4 on the VTEC.

Also, the VTEC previously had a nice sporty black and silver interior combination. Honda has even spoilt that with woody interiors and beige like the GXi.

huh! Who can pass a law to say that they must give all customers 5 alloys! I think you are mixing up alloys with the spare wheel issue that came up a few months ago with the introduction of the run flat tyres by BMW.

The Swift alloy replacement was simply a goodwill measure on the part of Maruti.

What about non-Vtec version? Is it available atleast as a option?

If wishes were horses . Unfortunately the Jetta costs as much as an entry level accord in the US.

Coming to the point, looks like Honda wanted to avoid the brickbats by offering a city variant that has ABS/Airbags, irrespective of whether anyone buys it or not.

77 BHP doesn't mean the car cannot do top speeds (like 150+); only it will reach there a little slower (2-3 seconds?). Further ABS would help even in speeds lower than that.

I am sorry then, it wasn't clear from your post. It sounded as though you were suggesting that for 77bhp, ABS isn't required.

Is this so ? I recall asking @goldie_malhotra this Q after he bought his VTEC. IIRC he confirmed that the spare was an alloy.

Rtech, I'm not sure but I think maruti were forced to replace the 5th spare to alloys for existing and new customers. Customers had filed a case against MUL after which they were told to provide all alloys and a rule was passed for the same. I could be wrong but I remember this. If someone can find a link or confirm this it will be good.

Just think of Honda India without the current competition provided by the SX4 (for the GXi, EXi) and the Magnum (for the VTEC).

They would willingly fed us brand crazy Indians the same eco-friendly City for 5 years more without ABS, SRS etc!

Also very hypocritical of them not to have included or even offered the above as an option on the GXi. I for one will not even include the City GXi due to the lack of the same, and nor touch the VTEC Plus as it is now really really overpriced.

Shame on Honda India!
