Getz with upgraded rubber will be the best choice. If one wants to go ahead and pick up broader tires, do up suspension too then it MIGHT be the swift followed by the Getz. It will get quite close actually, because you get a lot of options for swifts suspension. But I really don't think the Getz engine is as free or high revving as either the swift or the palio. That is the biggest let down in that car IMO.

Alto 1.1 will really be a handful and ahead by quite a margin of all the cars mentioned above.

Well OD says that someone on the MMSA track has a modified getz with pedders, port polish, intake, exhaust and its better then the Swift as well on the road and track.

I thought we are talking about cars which are in production.

That's JD's car, and he went past me on the straight. I was doing 130+, so you can imagine what his car is capable of.

I agree BUSA it is not in production but if you get a chance to drive a 1.1 please. You will be amazed. It even feels stable than esteem at high speeds.

Also i have not voted yet because i have not driven the following.

1. UV-A
2. Estilo
3. Spark

UV-A
Driven the UVA, its does have a nice suspension but the engine lets it down drastically.

I have tried doing some sharp manoeuvres at high speeds on my stock swift. The handling was great and crisp. Where as when I tried the same on my friends stock Getz, did not feel it safe as all.

Looking at the votes for Palio. Would love to TD one at the earliest. :-)

Ditto. For comfort the getz suspension is pretty soft. Handling IMHO can be improved.

i know its been a while since this thread is bumped, just requesting the bump again and mods, please add, i10, polo, figo, micra and 120 and the other hatchbacks as well to the poll please.

it would be really informative to know which of these new-gen hatches handle the best, or is it still the ALTO/SWIFT (based on this thread).

+1 to that.

Please update the poll to current models, or close this and let's start a new one if that's not possible.

Also don't forget to add the Fiat Punto.

We can add a new poll. but that is a futile exercise IMO.

There can be one and only one winner in this poll: The Fiat Grande Punto.
I don't think anyone will disagree.

Please pardon my ignorance! I have a very basic question.
1. How do I test handling? What is the exact manoevure to be performed?
2. What is the expected result for a good handling car?
3.How does it affect or benefit routine commutes?

Mods: If there is a more appropriate thread, this post may please be shifted.

+1, Punto is undoubtedly the winner when it comes to handling. Not sure about the suspention though.
This is why Fiat Palio was the winner of this Poll

Palio wins this one for sure IMO. Unfortunately although the Punto is also somewhere in that league too, Fiat India needs to learn that to rise above the cut-throat competition in small car market in India, you can survive with an average suspension, but not an average overall car.
