why would tata buy fiat to get their technology? I think this is just a plain rumour or Ratan tata is extremely ambitious.

Its not just the $2billion AriZona Beverages that is on the Tata crosshairs. Tatas are also looking at the $16billion acquisition plan for Cadbury Schwepps as a part of a large consortium.

Did not get that. Are you talking about the amount of leverage?

What is the valuation for Fiat? What is the synergy with Fiat? If you are confident of incorporating another company with its people and processes, then well you can go ahead. Tata has proven something with Tetley. That is why they are confident and maybe so will the lenders be. Which means that debt will be provided at lower rates.

I am pretty sure that its just a rumour. I can't believe that FIAT is willing to be sold.

I think the story is not based on facts. Tata's want to buy some brands of fiat, not whole fait group.

AFAIK, Tata want to buy some brands(Jaguar and Land Rover) of FORD and not Fiat.

From the report

Quote:
The Tatas have been interested in AriZona Beverages for three years now, The Economic Times of Mumbai said in a report quoting unnamed sources. Company officials did not comment on the rumors.
Forbes is quoting Economic times which is quoting unnamed sources. Thumb rule: Whenever any publication of the times rag quotes unnamed sources/Reliable sources, they are actually referring to the reporters whazooo or the paan waala outside the company's headquarters.
