The Sierra will have its task cut out for it. Mahindra's born-electric range just dropped yesterday, and they seem to be winning on paper. Given how most Indians purchase cars based on the spec-sheet, the Sierra will have to outdo the XEV and BE on multiple fronts to be successful. Having an AWD option is a no-brainer for starters. Diluting the Sierra nametag with only FWD makes no sense at this point. This should ideally come with a bigger battery pack than 55 kwh.

Is it me or that rear design spoils the look completely:eek:

Looks abrupt like Fiat Uno of early 2000's

More than anything, Tata needs to dial back the usage of piano black and Mahindra too, to an extent.

Tata has been slapping piano black everywhere to make the car shine including fenders and skid plates:Frustrati. We used to have remarks about piano black in the interiors getting scratched easily. Now, Imagine them on the outside exposed to elements as seen in their recent launches.

That's a cool dude car. I really loved the wrap up type, rear window of the Sierra. The airy feel that a large window like that gave, was lot more fun and practical than the panoramic roofs where you get to see the sky only.

Even its two door was cool but practically getting into a high GC SUV through a flip forward seat is quite a pain  So while this looks like a four door - it does take away the Sierra character!

Here are some design sketches posted by one of my favorite Instagram accounts clap:

I don't want one, I NEED one

Powerdrift was quick to cover the Sierra in autoexpo 2025. About the end of video, they started putting covers back on the car. The yellow color looks smashing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsYmsSeTJxA

Looks like it's coming with 3 screens setup similar to XEV 9e as seen in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJpS_BVrpO8

Something about this looks familiar to the Seltos

That black panel across the front seems a bit excessive. The Sierra.ev front end from the renders look good.

That rectangular black panel connecting the headlights looks looka very plane jane. The earlier mockup looked absolutely smashing on the other hand.
Also i think the rear is very upright and does not look exciting enough.

I think the earlier design is Reserved for EV. This yellow thing looks like ICE car.

Arghh! Why have they messed with the front. The previous concept was so much cleaner and nicer. This ugly black grill looks horrendous and makes the front look so generic. Reminds me a bit of the grill on the old Safari Storme.

The reviewer also spoke of a 3-screen setup similar to the XEV 9E in this one! Hard no! Can we have less screens in our car please? What happened to all the minimal philosophy that the Design team was discussing in the previous edition?

Tata please go with the original grill for Production and make this 3 screen an optional Bling accessory. Design Team please overrule whoever in Marketing is adding these ideas.

I saw the vide from TeamCarDelight first, where the third screen was playing something and drivers instrument panel was displaying startup kind of animation. I am also not a fan of 3 screens as all 3 displays have thick bezels in between. The 3 screens might be a novelty that wears off fast as the viewable area to watch a video will be very limited.

This was not an actual car but a clay model as per PowerDrift video at 1:16 mark. He indicated that this clay model was as close to real life model. The rear window does not go all the way up to the roof like the original Sierra. The body colored B-line panel reminded of Syros.

Some elements which I did not like
- The rear door looks too flat and not part of the same car.
- Everything including brake lamp and turn signals integrated in a single connected tail lamp looked weird to me.
- Another yellow car. I don't know what has happened with subtle colors like Silver. I feel these premium cars would look good in Silver color too.

I just don’t get it, as recently as a decade ago, obituaries were readied on Tata and M&M but now they are just knocking it out of the park! How did the Japanese and Germans (below the luxury space) get so left behind in the EV race? Even if they come up with half competent EVs now, I’m not sure if they’ll ever be able to catch upto to Indian manufacturers led alone the Chinese. Only the Koreans seem to be keeping up or staying ahead among the traditional PV manufacturers.

no spare tyre behind like the old Sierra

The back portion doesnt look proportionate to the rest of the car. Its like someone chopped off the back with the saw pointing towards the tires.

Also, whats with having piano black wheel arches and claddings? Do they have some new tech where they dont get scratches?

The Sierra will be a unique exercise where essentially a flop car name plate (going by sales) is being revived in a new guise. Today, people remember Sierra fondly as an SUV, but it never sold well and was high priced and died off silently.
All this is not to say that this model will not be a hit. Suzuki did revive the Baleno name successfully.

Coming to the Car, I like the looks and the striking yellow colour. The front is very European and a non blingy, un-TATA like design and very mature and i like it. In the production guise, they have had to sacrifice the all Glass top hat look of the concept but still looks nice. Although the 6E/9E cousins and Avinya may have the souped up looks (i personally find them eye sores) and grab majority eyeballs of all the wannabes (sorry for the harshness, but the Mahindra twins hurt my eyes!!) , TATA's Styling team's evolution into a mature OEM is almost complete. Keep it up TATA.

A lot is said about piano Black material usage on the exterior - Yes, scratches are unavoidable. Protection films would do for most people well enough though.

I think 90s kids aka millennials remember it as something cool even if their parents or neighbours were sensible enough to not actually buy it. My dad had one and by the eight year mark it wasn’t revving past 3300 rpm. And the power windows and central locking used to give up often. But the car suited his personality and faithfully took him to his workplace as well as his orchard in the hills for many years.
