re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2024 | EDIT: It's the Thar Roxx

Here are my top 3
1. ROXX - It's a fantastic car that masses will either buy or talk about for months. Thousands of booking and months of waiting in the hyper competitive 15-25L price bracket proves this.

2. Dzire - Proves that maruti CAN make beautiful safe cars. Tata should be very very worried.

3. Windsor - I hope this gets the love it deserves. It's beautiful spacious feature-rich vfm inside out.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2024 | EDIT: It's the Thar Roxx

I know it’s subjective, but I really think some facelifts are comprehensive enough to at least warrant a place on the option list, at least when the eMax 7 and a corporate twin the Taisor are included. I would have voted XUV 3XO given the option.

Among what I can vote for, it will be the Dzire. IMO it significantly brings down the price point where not only “needs” but even the more sensible half of the “nice-to-have”s like service network and safety are covered. That is pretty much my kind of car. Personally I would pick the Swift, but it’s the Dzire for which Maruti have put in more of a marketing effort so I’m voting accordingly.

Voted for Thar ROXX for the best car. Though the windsor makes a lot of sense too.

I'd really like to meet the member who eventually will vote for the X-trail. Currently at zero votes and IMO definitely the bust of the year.

Voted for Dzire

Reason : For proving that the automobile giant of India has finally woken up from the slumber of ignoring Safety for so long.

Dzire makes safety and reliability accessible even to first time buyers with a limited budget.

Has to be the Thar Roxx, no other car I know of has managed to capture the imagination of most of the public, not just the petrol heads. Curvv is a bold move too, and I really liked it but the Thar it is!

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2024 | EDIT: It's the Thar Roxx

Voted for the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire. Reasons:

1) It is a 5 star car by Maruti Suzuki. Why does that matter, you ask? Maruti Suzuki is known to make reliable, cost-effective and efficient cars. The only thing missing in the mix is safety, which they attained. So, this car deserves the award IMHO.

2) It's quality levels are far superior than other cars in the segment, so the air of desirability is pretty adequate.

3) Finally, I personally love this car as a city runabout. Look awesome + stealthy engine and gearbox combo + small footprint make this a C-H-U-C-K-A-B-L-E car!

I could have voted for the Thar Roxx too, and I do like the car. But IMO, it is purely based on the clout and the air of popularity surrounding it. Again, purely my opinion.

Cheers!

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2024 | EDIT: It's the Thar Roxx

How about having an option of choosing two cars from the list and getting a runner up this time.
BTW I voted for the Swift for its youthful image now being more safe this time.
If two votes were allowed, I would vote Dzire for its practicality.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2024 | EDIT: It's the Thar Roxx

I was in a bit of a dilemma regarding the new Swift and Dzire. They're both impressive in design and packaging and offer an interesting choice of car. But, when you dig deep down, they feel iterative and a little transactive in terms of engineering choices. The pair, while being fantastic offerings, don't really tug at your heartstrings anymore. To be candid for a moment here, I never understood the allure of the Swift from the very beginning.

The Thar Roxx on the other hand, seems like an engineering exercise Mahindra did not have to do, yet accomplished anyways. The chassis is brilliant, ride is quite good and engine-gearbox choices are on point. That the Mahindra looks the way it does only adds to its desirability. Not only that, the car is surprisingly well packaged for a body on frame design and extremely capable. That is why Mahindra's Thar Roxx gets my vote.

BYD Seal!

The sheer amount of car performance for the money is outstanding. I hope we soon receive its SUV variant with better ground clearance.

And may BYD bring in their hybrids to India soon.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2024 | EDIT: It's the Thar Roxx

I am surprised that the list doesn't feature the 3XO but has cars like BYD. Even in terms of nos. cars like the 3XO are doing extremely well and had a big bang opening. There is no option to choose other. Sorry, but the poll is not evenly placed to accommodate the right cars.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2024 | EDIT: It's the Thar Roxx

Voted for the MG Windsor. Apart from the naming, this was a new car launch, with a different way of looking at the battery for an EV. Whether its successful or not remains to be seen, but what I saw is enough to be voted car of the year.

Tata Curvv is a close second for me. While they did a commendable job of offering so many choices on the same car, this very point also prevented me from voting for this car. I do believe products should be tweaked or specifically developed for the platform or fuel they are targetting.

Citreon Basalt is the third one for me. There should be some marks for trying to differentiate your product, and I have given them here.

Overall, I think this was a good year for the Indian Car Buyer (the majority 5-20lacs).

P.S. - Nissal X-trail is a sorry sorry launch for me. Inferior product, overpriced, with no unique value proposition.

This poll is predictable. It is almost a certainty that the Thar Roxx will garner the maximum votes.
But I actually appreciate the MG Windsor for what it offers and hence have voted accordingly.

Voted for Thar Roxx, it deserves all the love and appreciation it is getting, what s brilliant package delivered by Mahendra excellent looks, adas, panoramic sunroof, Eps, brilliant chassis, comfort and handling all these at a reasonable price what more people can ask for?
Seriously car like the Roxx at this price with these features would have been unimaginable 5/10 years ago honestly I am more impressed by the Roxx than all the other cars Mahiandra has launched like the Scorpio N,3Xo etc.

The Thar ROXX. The hands down winner according to me. The Dzire is a very close second though.

Cheers

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2024 | EDIT: It's the Thar Roxx

Voted for Mahindra Roxx

My confusion were
1. Maruti Dzire - First 5-star safety car from Maruti. So now we can have a no-nonsense car which can be serviced anywhere in India and which is quite frugal and reliable too
2. Tata Punch EV - I liked the petrol version being quite handy and comfortable for inner city rides. So I hope EV version would be lot better.
3. Mahindra Roxx - Just a call from heart. Looks cool, desirable, 5-star safety rating.
