Team-BHP - Elantra 'Smoookinnn'

This happened a few days ago

My bosses brother in law.. the famed dialogue writer Neeraj Vora bought an Elantra a month ago. Last week he was travelling on the Expressway with his driver. Suddenly the driver noticed some fumes coming from the grille and so he pulled over. He opened the bonnet and in 5 minutes time ..BOOM!!! The engine burst into flames and soon the entire car was reduced to nothing but just the skeleton.

Luckily there were were no casualties as both the fellows got away just in time

New Elantra catching fire?? Hmmm can someone at Hyundai explain?

as for me i love the vivas sound when pushed really heard.
surprisin performance though..
but as for me i am not very fond of hyundais..
only santro or tiburon
nothing else unless its got a crdi heart ..

btw is your boss suing hyundai, i mean like what if something happened to hikm

man...im driving a hyundai as well...n rj also owns a crdi.
more info required on this as to reasons y it caught fire dippy if possible.

Sometimes, if the radiator cap isn't fixed properly, it can cause the engine to overheat, and if this is not taken care of immediately, it can blowup.

But if it's a Hyundai, then there can be other reasons.

whoa...that's what you call having a bad car day!

This sorta thing should not happen on a new car! Even a Hyundai...

may be it happ coz.. the crdi *engine handles at high temperature seroiusly not expected from such a company like hyundai

and a d segment car.. was the car CRDi. is the boss suing hyundai he ought wat if *there were *casualties.. anywayz i am glad nobody was injured..

this is bad ... good there were no casualties ...hyundai should sort the prob ...call in the cars they suspect as to this .. check that it doesnt happen again

been there! done that! a friend of mine (car newbie) had a 190E that he did this too. he had just put radiator fluid intot he raditor and forgot the cap. fortunately we noticed the smoke and prevented a fire.

Strange, but did it blow? I've never seen an engine blow, just catch fire. I hope he sues Hyundai for all they are worth, maybe that'll get 'em to stop making cars here and stop giving a viable alternative to every auto enthusiasts' father.
