Yes for this price fiesta 1.6 is the car to go for, great drivers cars like OHC ,baleno and ikon 1.6 are all dead.Comparing the fiesta to ikon its not even close to the fun to drive factor of the ikon.

It was clever on part of Himanshu to avoid another "war thread" .

I agree with prakasse here.. SX4 definitely has the best of both worlds - Cross breed of Jap and Euro parentage and its best suited for Indian conditions - high ground clearance and sharp turning radius, Handles really well. I havent driven the Cedia yet.

Our inhouse tuner was working on a cedia and though i never really got to see it ready,it was beautiful to look at.Sunroof, vortex diffuser .. xenons .. spoiler and body kit.BEAutiful

Its not all about horsepower, for people on a budget I would put the Swift petrol in there. Swift has hot looks and great handling. Many hop up parts developed for the Esteem are a bolt on.

IMHO there arent any spiritual successors at all for these cars...

by saying so - im not overly glorifying these cars - just that certain points for which these cars have that emotional appeal dont existing in any car as of now...

if we are talking pure performance may be yes...
pure performance to value yes...

i think cedia and fiesta 1.6 satisfy only the above factors...

but lets think deeper and wonder why the OHC , Baleno evoke such strong emotions among enthusiasts....

i think apart from performace, design also plays a part - the low slung, long bonnet look always appeals to enthusiasts...

proportions is another factor - IMHO - fiesta and cedia ( to a lesser extent ) are not really proportionate looking....

the low slung , leg stretched driving position is also a HUGE TURN ON which i dont think the FIESTA offers...

lastly modding capabilities within a budget is a big plus for these cars ( BALENO AND OHC) - u cud pick up a used car and spend a small amount ( comparitively speaking ) and soup up these cars...this also brings enthusiasts closer to such cars..

i dont think FIESTA and CEDIA provide such options ( atleast as of now )

It is priced higher and is diesel, so it may not qualify, but the Optra Magnum is a beast on road. I totally loved driving it. But mera Baleno mahaan.

Sx4!

Anyone read the Overdrive track test?

I thought fiesta 1.6 would triumph in that segment, but they say the crown belongs to SX4, and by a huge margin.

SX4 is not a car, if anyone wants to compare it with a baleno or an OHC, he must seriously not know what is a drivers' car. SX4 feels like a safari, i mean the Tata safari, that is to say it is almost like a lorry with the ease of driving of a car. It is most certainly not a driver's car. The fiesta is probably close to that & the verna.

It is Cedia. Agreed that it did not do well initially but after Mitsubishi lowered its price, it is a great VFM. You get a car as close to Civic as it could get but at the price of City.

I drive Cedia and extremely satisfied with its performance and the service that I get from the dealer.

So, a driver's car is the one with lowest seating?

I do not own the SX4. Why i asked is that- Overdrive has said that the SX4 was the best car to drive on track, their driver's car of the lot. Also, SX4 hatch is getting ready for rally. So, is it worth the tag?

Agree to the fiesta part. Its a driver's car alright. Everything feels so communicative. But not the Verna- its good for ride comfort, not for handling.
