Actually, they drove in circles around a track! Thats what the pictures indicate- National centre for automotive testing, Vehicle research and development establishment.

Off topic- Why so?

It is always sponsored by a company. I am dead sure Ford would have paid a ton of money to ACI and here M&M would have paid OD.
Now somebody pay me and i will extract 40kmpl from a Swift Diesel.

I think this is because the gravity is less, so less resistance and hence better FE. In that case, why not space itself?

OT:

Driving on the moon should make the weight of the car 1/6th. Please ignore the fact that there are too many craters on the moon.

Why not space? Yes, that too is counted. If they can count the journey in a truck to the circular testing track (2200 - some amount on the track), doesn't the distance to the moon and back also count?

If I drive the way they drove the car, My Alto will probably give the mileage of my bike

These are only test figures, nothing to worry about, real life story is much harder on the mileage.

The driving style required to get these figures is not really desirable in daily life.

Isn't OD part of the Tata group? I wonder how much mileage they will report for the Tata One Lac rupee car.

Guys - I read the whole article in OD. It also mentions that in True daily condtions - The Logan is bound to give you around 20kpl.

I have also heard from the dealer in Agra ( who actually owns 2 ) - that his Logan Diesel gives him an average of 19kpl ( highway + city ) 100% AC on . Now that is really a good average.

I did not like the car initially but if these FE figures are true - then a black Logan can certainly replace My santro. 6.5 OTR ( Mid Variant ) is not a bad price cnsidering the Swift Diesel is only a Lac less !!

What say you ppl ??

In 2004 Tata Motors had conducted an Indica Petrol Mileage car in Calcutta. There were only 15 participating cars and my friend and I participated in his car. We got a mileage of 26.7 kmpl with 5 people onboard, but it is impossible to drive like that on a regular basis. The person who came first got an unbeleivable mileage of 45.xx kmpl. The guy with whose indica we participated is also a memeber of this forum - vroooom. He will be able to tell beter about what all we tried to get better mileage ..

Well I think I might just - I am waiting for the new Tata Safari 2.2 - If i buy that - then I do not think I will be able to buy this - will have to do with a smaller car then - BUT yes if the safari is out then I am seriously considering this.

Does any BHPian have a Logan - I think I saw an ownership report on the logan d a few days back - will search now.
