Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Maruti aims big in EV space in India.

- Export volumes likely to be bigger than the Indian volumes.

Usually the OEM provides the charger and the labour for free.

The wiring is typically done from the EB meter in the basement to your parking spot. They usually give some 10-20meters of wire free. But you will have to pay for additional wiring.

What I am more interested is the typcial electical load for these devices. Most houses (or flats) have a 5KWH load from the Bescoms. Do they need to increase the capacity to 7KWH or 11KWH to support these chargers?

Now look forward to how Maruti will start taking out flaws in its own hybrid technology and push the EV agenda forward. Similar to diesel/petrol marketing. And the general audience will never realise that Maruti and Toyota were actually behind the EV wave and had no option but to have hybrid tech as temporary fix.

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Glad to see MS shaking off it's lineage of inoffensive designs to give something radical (by MS standards) yet pleasing. With the reach they have in India, they can enable all existing dealerships, Nexa or non-nexa to have EV chargers, hence eradicating the need to invest separately in the infrastructure.

What remains to be seen is that this time they don't botch the launch of another hyped product with ridiculous pricing. It's a 20-25 lakh Rupees car, not a 30+. This has to fight the Creta EV, Mahindra trio, and it's own hybrid siblings. Hope this doesn't end up like the Jimny, Scross etc.

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

I thought this was a pretty well rounded product and a great first attempt. Till I realized there's no spare wheel for a car that has a claimed 500km range. I wouldn't buy it just for this one single reason.

Please check the boot pic once more.

There is a spare tyre below the styrofoam case, though at a casual glance one feels it is just the tools and charging cable under the boot floor.

Yes, there is a spare wheel below the styrofoam. Infact what you get is a full-size alloy wheel as spare!

You genuinely feel that Suzuki can compete with Mahindra, TATA, MG and Hyundai with the Vitara pricing (say on road price b/w 24-28 Lacs). I don't genuinely think Suzuki can compete at that price. I don't know how well they can leverage their massive sales and service network to provide additional value but definitely won't be a game changer. I know for sure, Suzuki has a slightly lower cost EV with the same foot print coming in next year. Till that time, this one is for Exports guys, not much hope for India. Of course will contribute to CAFE but not much to bottoming or Sales.

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Car looks good. I think this will be priced around 15L judging from the interiors. There is one issue in the design of both this and the Toyota version, which is they don’t look like SUVs. This is the problem with the MG ZS as well.

The sloping front and the smaller windows make these look like Tata Nexon, Sonet alternatives. I don’t think this is the correct design decision. Look at the new Sierra. It is similarly sized but looks almost like a 3 row car due to its design.

Market trend is such that people want tall looking cars in the 4.3m segment even if they are all the same when seated inside.

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

So, Maruti will sell the e-Vitara (and future EV's) through the Nexa channel?

Aren't they looking to create a separate channel of sales outlets the way Tata has done for its EV lineup?

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

So does this mean that Suzuki would no longer work on the serial hybrids that they were talking about for Fronx, Swift etc?

If they are planning on installing charging infrastructure, then they cannot do it with/for just one model. So this seems to be bye bye serial hybrids.

No. EVs are not exclusive to Nexa. There will be EVs marketed through the Arena channels too.

Offering a series of technologies like Series Hybrids, Strong Hybrids, CNG, EVs, etc. all are part of their strategy. Series Hybrid/Range extender cars are rumoured to be launched in 2026.
By the end of the decade, the company expects EVs to account for 15% of its total sales.

Completely agree

In fact, in standalone pictures without other objects for size reference - this looks like a giant Celerio to me, especially the sides.

Would have preferred a more conventional approach like in the Grand Vitara.

Appreciate MS for having a plan for chargers and at-home service for EVs. Great move for EVs in India.

I doubt the at-home chargers will be available to the public even for MS EVs. We already have Tata Power installing chargers for Tata and mostly for MG, which are not public unless the owners opt to put them.

But the DC chargers in SC & Showrooms will be open to all EVs. A great addition
