Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

I feel that the looks of electric version is nowhere near to the relatively clean design of the ICE Vitara.
Moreover there is a well founded concern regarding how much of the technology is developed in-house as it is specified that the battery is sourced from BYD.

So pricing and service aspect could be very tricky in such scenarios. All other players atleast have a great degree of indigenous components and platform where as Maruti Suzuki has been piggybacking on other's established technology (hybrid). But things could be very different in the emerging field of BEVs.

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

EVitara seems like a more focussed effort compared to Creta EV. Saw the Creta EV at showroom yesterday and the hanging battery pack is such an eye sore. This looks born as an EV and is backed by charger installations at all dealerships. I think this will be the true disruptor of the space and not BE 6. The interiors look sorted and the car will have less initial issues compared to Mahindra. And this is an optimal sized car, compared to the ultrawide BE 6.

I hate it that this does not get AWD in India, but even without that, it looks like the most complete offering in the sub 30 lakhs EV space. And there is a Toyota version to come. I don't like the colours offered by Suzuki, so I might just go for the Toyota version.

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

While I am very tempted by all these EV launches, the reality is that my apartment association will not allow chargers in the basement (where we have our parking slots).

A few quick chargers at GF level to cater to hundreds of flats does not solve the problem.

Hence an EV is unviable for me.

I think this may apply to many potential buyers. Most Indians live in apartments. Very few have the luxury of staying in an independent house.

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

It is perhaps too early to comment on the car itself, but initial impressions look promising. The interior in particular impressed me with the well designed UI and physical controls. The tech seems to be more contemporary too. This, in the makings, seems to be an EV for the masses. Pricing will determine if it will do well or not.
What one can expect from Maruti is to go all guns blazing on the ancillary services. Servicing, ease of access to touchpoints, charging infra, etc. form the basic ecosystem that one needs to develop to ensure EV sales are in the green. Maruti has recognised this and is working hard at it to ensure that peace of mind ownership factor is not disassociated from the brand.

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

I don't like when the same name is used across multiple cars. Don't know what love Maruti has for the word "Vitara". Yes it takes a lot to build a brand name. But should they reuse it till it's beaten to death?! Grand Vitara, Vitara Brezza, just Vitara... anything else I am missing? Seems their dictionary doesn't have many words. Reminds me of Deepika Padukone's dialogue from Chennai Express movie "Kahan se laya aisa bokwas dictionary?"!

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Did they not allow sitting at the rear seats? It appears that the floor is quite high (due to the battery). If that is the case, in spite of the vehicle being tall (1640mm), tall people will have to sit knees up which brings down long distance comfort levels (just my opinion).

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

The backseat appears to be really uncomfortable for reasonably long Bangalore city drives, let alone out of state highway drives. What a total bummer!

They did, the autocar video mentions the floor is "very high" at the back and he sat in a very noticeable knees up position. This could end up being a dealbreaker to what appears otherwise to be a well rounded EV.

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

More info on e Vitara's eaxle:

Efficient eAxle and lithium iron phosphate battery:

Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025-img_5172.png

The battery-electric powertrain consists of the high-efficiency eAxle, which integrates the motor and inverter, and a lithium iron phosphate battery designed for optimal safety and reliability. The result is smooth acceleration from a standstill and sharp acceleration for overtaking, both at low and high speeds.

- Production in India will contribute to the rollout of Suzuki BEVs around the world in line with market needs.

The eAxle, jointly developed by BluE Nexus Corporation, AISIN CORPORATION, and DENSO Corporation, will be installed in Suzuki's first mass-produced battery electric vehicle (BEV) model, the e VITARA.

-The newly adopted eAxle uses a small motor and inverter to achieve high power density and high dynamic performance. Moreover, its loss reduction technology also contributes to excellent Electrical consumption.

-The product will be supplied by BluE's Indian subsidiary, BluE Nexus Automotive India Pvt. Ltd. and manufactured in India, the same country as Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private Limited produces the vehicle, in order to contribute to the rollout of BEVs by Suzuki in countries around the world in line with market needs.

-BluE, AISIN, and DENSO will continue to develop compact, highly efficient, low-cost products by leveraging their respective strengths and know-how. The three companies will also contribute to the realization of a carbon neutral society by installing their products in electric vehicles of every description through BluE.

-By combining the strengths of AISIN, DENSO and Toyota in electrification, BluE aims to meet the needs of customers around the world, to further develop and popularize electric vehicles, and to help realize a carbon neutral society.

Everyone sources their battery cells and tech from China. Tata, Mahindra source them from china and assembles them locally. I guess Suzuki does not believe it makes financial or logistic sense for them to do that. They already own a battery facility with Toshiba where produce and also export hybrid batteries. So may be they can end up localising the assembly of they want

Not confirmed yet. But AWD in an EV will make no sense for India. it is mainly intended for EU markets.
