Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Big shoutout to libranof1987 for shooting these pictures & his coverage of the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. Thanks for sharing, man!

Based on the eVX concept, the e Vitara has finally been showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. It is based on the Heartect-e which is a platform specifically developed for electric vehicles. The car looks closer to the concept and has some very interesting design elements:

The overhangs are short and the wheelbase is long to accommodate the battery pack and improve the cabin space:
Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025-3.jpeg

It gets a Fronx-like rear end. The Suzuki and e-Vitara badges are too close to each other IMO:

LED projector headlamps with integrated DRLs. The fog lamps have been placed way down below. Also, note the front parking sensors and the neatly integrated front camera:

The charging flap is on the front left. The ORVMs are integrated with turn indicators and side cameras for the 360-degree view:

Big haunches at the rear. Also, note that the rear door handles are integrated into the C-pillar:

A closer look at the 18-inch wheels that are shod with 225/55 section tyres. They’re optimized for aerodynamics and get aero inserts:

The cabin looks very simple with black and tan interiors. The design feels a bit edgy and not your typical Maruti:

The flat bottom steering wheel gets ADAS-related functions on the right spoke:
Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025-8.jpeg

Transmission mode selector is a rotary knob with a separate button for P. There appears to be a button for one-pedal driving on the left along with Snow mode:

The rear seats can slide and recline as well. Rear passengers get individual headrests and 3-point seatbelts. Rear AC vents have also been provided:

A look at the sunroof:

Decent boot space on offer. The subwoofer has been placed on the right:

Under the boot floor, you have a spare wheel, portable charging cable and tools. Everything has been placed neatly in a Styrofoam case:

A top view of the chassis. The battery is placed below the frame:

The eAxle sits below the supply unit. During the international unveiling, Suzuki also showcased the electric 4WD system:

There was also a half-cut section of the car on display:

Here’s how the powertrain looks on the car:

From the looks of it, the floor does look a little high due to the battery underneath:

A look at the Maruti charging station:

Doorstep service for the EV. It also includes a battery pack for emergency charging:

Maruti Suzuki to offer EV chargers at home with free installation as part of broader push.

Maruti Suzuki has unveiled a three-pronged approach to catch up with its rivals in the EV market, including home charging solutions, city-wide fast charging networks, and a dedicated mobile app.

-The company has invested more than Rs 2,100 crore for manufacturing the e VITARA, its first electric vehicle.

-The company will offer home chargers along with installation to ease the transition to electric mobility.

-The second focus area will be on charging infrastructure, with the company planning to provide fast charging support in the top 100 cities. It will be expanded to more cities later. Takeuchi said the company’s goal is to have a charging point every 5 to 10 kilometers within these cities. Additionally, the company is setting up over 1,500 EV-enabled service workshops across more than 1,000 cities.

-The third aspect to the new strategy is a new mobile app, which will allow customers to locate nearby charging stations, check real-time availability of slots, charge their vehicles, and make payments. Moreover, the app will provide roadside assistance across India, including support for situations where the battery runs out.

- The e Vitara comes with features such as Level 2 ADAS, Integrated Display System, and Next Generation Suzuki Connect.

- Prices to be revealed in March.

This is the major push for EVs in India. I'm a fence sitter when it comes to EVs until now. But, these initiatives bring the trust in EVs.

Will these infrastructure be open to non maruti EVs too?

What I'm the most interested is, did Maruti finally ditch those cheap window controls? The interiors are very different from any Maruti so I suppose they have.

Looks like it finally happened.

Though they have carried over the door handles that have been used in recent models.

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Looks like a good offering from Maruti to shake up the market even more. More EVs from different brands will increase the acceptability of them. And also increase the charging infra.

Also, I think this is the reason Hyundai released the eCreta quickly on the ICE platform. Though I would have liked them to introduce the Kona EV here. The interiors are much better than the usual Maruti grade and can take the competition to others.

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

I was going through the eVitara website to get details about the AWD system and could not find anything at all. There is no mention of AWD on the website or the brochure from the website. Looks like we are not getting it in India. Like other Suzuki AWD models, it looks reserved for Japan and Europe.

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

The e-AWD with twins Motors and twins e-axles would push the price of e Vitara north of 30L. Hence the AWD is missing for India. In any case, This will be more expensive than the Curvv or Windsor and slot in the 22-26L range. I don't have too much hope for its sales in India. People in India with that much dough won't cough it in a Suzuki. Period.

Yes indeed. New switches on the doors inside.Attaching a screengrab from the Autocar India Video.

Also no AWD for India as of now, but definitely that can change if there is demand, considering it is being built solely in India for now.

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Does this have a frunk? Would have made sense to have the charging gun and wiring there freeing up space in the trunk.

The piano black central console is a scratch magnet. Could have avoided it. The old retro tape-recorder type buttons are a nice touch.

Also, the rotary gear selector doesnt look very intuitive. Would have preferred something like in the Tata Safari - a normal compact gearshift with a rotary dial for drive mode.

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Quite disappointing to see the eVitara at Auto Expo. Just like the Grand Vitara, it does not have the finesse of the Hyundai Creta EV and feels outright cheap. That single-pane sunroof, though, is bigger than others, but it is not panoramic in this day and age. I mean, what is Maruti thinking? Even if they price aggressively, Creta will have an edge as an all-rounder, and Mahindra will create its own uncontested market with the BE 6, despite its ergonomic flaws.

And those who think MG Windor is VFM need to know it is underpriced in the Indian market; in marketing terms, it is called penetration pricing, but I see it as a pure case of dumping from China by SAIC with help from newfound financial muscle of Jindal's private investment.

(WTO definition: What is dumping? Dumping is, in general, a situation of international price discrimination, where the price of a product when sold in the importing country is less than the price of that product in the market of the exporting country.)

MG Windsor (formerly Wuling Cloud) was launched in China in August 2023 at RMB 95,800 (Rs 11.2 lakhs). This was well before the battery price crash that happened in 2024. Battery prices declined by more than 50% between 2023 and 2024. In India, Windsor was launched at Rs 13.5 lakhs and is now at Rs 14 lakhs. This is after the said battery price crashes. So, by the above-quoted definition itself, it's not dumping as it was priced higher in India than in China. With rapid battery price declines, it's even further from dumping.

By the way, Tata has launched Nexon EV with 30 kWh at Rs 14 lakhs in early 2020. 5 years ago, all the EV components (batteries, motors, etc...) were way higher than they are now. MG Windsor and Mahindra BE 6 are both VFM for what they are offering for Rs 14 and Rs 19 lakhs respectively. We cannot call one as dumping just because they are from Chinese while the other is from an Indian company. BE 6 has a much bigger battery (59 kWh vs 38 kWh), a way more powerful motor, faster DC charging speed, etc... at only Rs 5 lakhs higher. If MG prices the upcoming 51 kWh Windsor at Rs 17 to Rs 18 lakhs, even then BE 6 is a much better-specced car for marginally higher price.

All this is possible due to 5% GST, rapid battery price declines, and most importantly the will to capture market share.

Re: Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Adding to the above:

It's not just Windsor and BE 6 that have been correctly priced. Nexon 45 also is in this league of correctly priced cars.

Cars where there is competition or which are Born EVs are being correctly priced in the market. Cars where there is no/overpriced ICE competition have not bothered with price correction.

Just have a look at the Nexon 45 Creative and the Curvv 45 Creative trims in a showroom/spec sheet and tell me where is the value for additional 3.5 lakh rupees for the Curvv coming from? The only reason why Curvv can ask for that insane price delta and Nexon can't is because of the competition. Creta could have been that competing car but not to be.

Anyways, all of these prices for the 50 kWh cars will also settle down once the Windsor with the larger 50kwh battery pack is out later this year. Once that happens, we will have honestly priced 40,45,50 and 59 kWh cars and everyone else in this battery capacity range will eventually have to fall in line.

Edit: Companies that do not sell small cars or strong hybrids (like MG and Mahindra) have a larger incentive to price their EVs honestly compared to those that do (Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, Tata). This is because those without low emission vehicles like small cars and Strong hybrids are more dependent on Emission reduction for meeting CAFE norms on their EV numbers.

For this reason, Kia, VW, Skoda may also need to introduce well priced EVs soon enough.

What does this mean exactly? Will someone living on the eighth floor of an old high rise building (with no charging infrastructure in place) be able to charge his EV at his basement parking?
