Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

I am a no-bike guy as I am not comfortable in riding. So my choices for a 2 car garage will be
1. Jimny Alpha AT 14 lacs (considering all the discounts and BH registration)
2. Bolero B6(O) 12 lacs
Both of them are no-nonsense SUVs with go anywhere character. I am not a fan of high end tech features in my cars so they will serve me well.

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

I would choose the below combination
1. Suzuki Jimny - Zeta At - 13.8 Lacs ex. sh.
2. Hyundai I20 N Line - N8 Manual - 11.30 Lacs ex sh.

Should cater to almost all requirements of enthusiasts. Fast, fun to drive, offroad capabilities, Mod friendly, compact enough for city uses..

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

Interesting thread, I'll go ahead and retain both my possessions and add a few niceties along the way
1. Ecosport S TDCi - ex-showroom of 11.7
-a. Add a Wolf Stage 1 - 30k (2024 numbers)
-b. Get the EGR cleaned - 10k (wild estimate)
2. CB300R - ex-showroom of 2.4
3. Add an MG Comet Exclusive as a city runabout (ferrying kids and ride shotgun to wife) - ex-showroom of 9.5

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

Buying 2 "new" cars with ex-showroom of total 25L is difficult. A new bike and a new car is still possible in that budget, but I had stopped riding 12 years back due to obvious risks associated with riding in crazy traffic.

Back in 2022, when I had to replace my totaled 2015 Safari Storme Vx 4x4 and 2011 Vista Aqua QJD, I had bought two cars: a Used 2019 Tata Hexa XTA for 13.75L and new Tata Punch Creative AMT (Kaziranga Edition) for 11.xxL on-road in Bangalore. It is a perfect 2 car garage for me in 25L.

OT: I could not let go of Vista as it is a fun machine to drive, and now I am stuck with 3 cars (with total annual running of 6k-7k kms) with myself being the lone driver, as my wife gave up driving in 2022 due to horrible Bangalore traffic.

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

I have one car and one motorcycle now. And both are good to handle both city and highways.
The car is a Kia Sonet GTX+ Diesel AT (12.99L INR ex-showroom, when purchased in 2020)- good in the city with the smooth torque converter, the diesel is a comfortable mile muncher on the highways too.
And the motorcycle is a Honda NX500(5.9L INR ex-showroom). Again, good long distance tourer and can be used in the city without much of an issue. Heat is manageable and returns a handsome FE of 25kpl (console indicated)

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

Somehow my current garage fits this bill based on ex-showroom price at purchase year

1) Honda City VX CVT i-vtech (2015) - 11.XX

2) Maruti Ignis Zeta AGS (2023) - 7.51

3) RE Himalayan 450 (2023) - 2.84

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

What a Brilliant thread this is. I am sure many would relate to it as this is within the reach of many of us.
Option 1 - Sparsely used well maintained Honda city ivtec MT 4th Gen (spend 8-9L) for & a Jimny AT (spend close to 15-16L)

This way I ll have fun with the city for highway runs. At the same time the Jimny would be for everything else ( road tripping to the mountain, off roading, handling city traffic and so on). Practicality is not compromised and everyone will be satisfied at home. Japanese cars so they would be super reliable and easy on pocket too

Option 2 - Two door THAR RWD/Jimmy AT & i20Nline DCT. I know this would overshoot the budget by 4-5 lakhs but hey - I am buying 2 new cars with ton of character. If that's too much of a stretch then replace the i20 with a used polo 1L TSI AT (should be about 8L)

This is a braver combo as compared to option 1. However I bet the fun I'll have driving this combo would be way more and I'll have a wider smile every morning when I get to my parking.

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

If I were to have two cars within the budget of 25L, I'd have a used Thar 4X4 P AT, which can be bought for 14L and a BMW F30 320D for 10L.

Or else, a brand new Jimny AT for 15L and a used Polo GT TSI/Honda City CVT for 10L is what I'd love to have.

If we hadn't bought the Hycross in 2023, then we'd have bought a brand new Creta/Seltos D AT for 23L and a used Polo/Vento/Rapid TSI AT or Honda City CVT for 10L. I know the budget will overshoot by 10L, but it's worth it.

IMO, instead of 25L, it should be 30L as getting two cars for 25L won't be that easy.

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

My ideal two car garage should be a mix of fun and practicality.
The fun part is taken care of by my Abarth Punto (bought used 5 years back). It's perfect for highway runs and fun to drive road sections, but not so much for city traffic and daily office commute. And thus for the sake of practicality I would add the Toyota Hyryder - great fuel efficiency and effortless in traffic (I see so many Hyryders during my daily office commute in Mumbai).
I am a fan of diesels and would have loved to include a diesel AT like the Sonet here. But big Indian cities and diesels is not exactly a match made in heaven these days. So, this tips the scale in favor of the Hyryder.
Cheers!

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

For me:

1. A car for every day's duty, has to be a Japanese for no-fuss ownership. So a Maruti/Honda (Swift, Baleno, Dezire, Amaze may work).

Swift is my take.

2. A SUV for outings and exploration. A SUV or sub 4 meter SUV will definitely work.

Creta would fit in budget with Swift.

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

Hi Folks,

My personal 2 car MARUTI SUZUKI garage consists of (I am a fanboy due to the massive practicality and ease of ownership Maruti Suzuki offers):
  • XL6 Zeta MT Petrol
  • Swift ZXI CNG

As on date, Ex-Showroom Prices of the said cars are as follows:
  • ₹13,31,798 for XL6 Alpha+ Smart Hybrid MT - An amazingly versatile, comfortable MPV with oodles of space for a family, Captain seats, unbeatably practical, with an amazingly spacious third row, and all practical creature comforts. It's a no-brainer for a practical MPV for Middle Class Indian families
  • ₹9,20,003 for Swift ZXI CNG - Hugely practical, Dual Fuel, Fun to drive/ Peppy on Petrol, Driver's delight, Efficient and Economical for city runarounds being CNG, Durable and backed by Suzuki's legendary service network

Still leaves some amount for a reasonably powered modern Bike. Makes for a perfect 2 car garage. What say folks?

Looking for your comments.

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

1. Honda Elevate V CVT @ ~14 lacs - This one would be for the family (Mrs. + kids + parents occasionally), will also act as the family highway car with the good ride quality and CVT convenience

2. Kylaq Entry variant @ 9 lacs - For me and the solo h/way trips

++ A 10 yr old Brio @ 2 lacs as the beater/grocery shopper/school dropper and the ivtec + MT combo

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

My ideal 2 car garage would be a sedan and a hatch.
Option 1 -
Sedan - Volkswagen Virtus DSG Evo
Hatch - Maruti Ignis Zeta MT

Option 2 -
Sedan - Honda City ZX CVT
Hatch - Maruti Baleno Delta

That 1.2 K12 B engine from Maruti is a rare gem that has 4 cylinders in a sea of small turbocharged 3 cylinder options.

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

An interesting Dilemma. I was in a similar boat since mid 2024 as my Endeavor (2018) is rendered useless November to January due to NGT bans. So I decided to not continue the lease post December and buy a new Petrol car instead. I earlier thought of picking up a Toyota Hycross Gx/Gx(o) but the dealer behaviour was a turn off. Anyways, graviated towards sedans as the last one I had was in 2013 before picking up the XUV 500.

I picked up a Skoda Slavia in December 24 In Gurgaon. It is a Signature 1.0 MT and cost me around 12.8-12.9 Lacs ex-showroom after discounts. If I remember correctly, the discount was around 2.8 lacs including insurance discount and 2 years service package.

I also have 2 booking for Roxx M1 Diesel and a MX3 Petrol AT open with Mahindra. Will pick up whichever model (Diesel/Petrol) is available earlier with the dealership.

Will pin down my thoughts on both the cars with details post delivery of the Roxx.

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

Thanks to all for making this thread active!!
Appreciate all the responses and thank GTO for posting it on the home page!

On the "30 Lakh would have been better", I was going to make it a 20 Lakh budget, but realised it would be difficult so I made it 25 Lakh, only for you guys to say 30 Lakh would have been better .

Will make new threads like these once in a while, with a few challenges and rules each time for different budgets.
