Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

Very interesting thread, that makes you think hard!

As a bachelor:
New Jimny Alpha AT: 15L
Used E90 325i: 7L
New Triumph Scrambler 400x: 3L

Keeping family in mind, this becomes tougher.
New Virtus 1.0L Highline: 16L
Used Duster AWD/Innova 1st/2nd gen/Fortuner 1st gen 4x4: 9L

I feel its always important to have 1 new car for the excitement and mental peace of the entire family!
I love real honest sedans and suvs/muvs, so NO to CSUVs/crossovers for me. Duster I guess is, but still feels nice and rugged.

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

I have given it some thought even before this thread was created. If parking was no constraint I would choose a Kia Carens X-Line Petrol DCT for about 19.5L ex-show room. This would be the primary car for all long distance road trips.

An S-presso VXI plus AMT (which I currently own) for about 6L ex-show room price for all intra city trips. The narrow dimensions (narrower than Wagon-R) make it an excellent replacement for a two-wheeler for tight spaces within the city.

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

Any garage with multiple used cars and bikes, rather a multi vehicle garage beyond 2 vehicles will turn out be expensive. The insurance, routine maintenance (incl. daily cleaning) and occasional repairs does pinch the pocket. It pinches the mind even more when you realize that only one of your vehicle will be primary.

Sorry - I run a 3 car, 2 bikes and a scooter garage and reality is hitting me that it's too many.

But hey, since the thread is about possibilities, I would do a BMW F30 and a Himalayan / KTM 390 / Bear 650 mix.

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

Great question! Building a 2-car garage under ₹25 lakh is a good challenge. Here's my combination:

Mahindra Thar Roxx MX1 Petrol MT 2WD – ₹13 lakh (ex-showroom)
Volkswagen Virtus Comfortline 1.0 TSI MT – ₹11 lakh (ex-showroom)
Royal Enfield Hunter 350 – ₹1.49 lakh (ex-showroom)

This lineup gives me an SUV for farm/highway runs, a stylish and practical sedan for the city/highway, and a city-friendly bike—all while staying close to budget. Since these are base models, I'll need to add accessories gradually after purchase.

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

The two cars would consist of one for city runs and other for highway family travels.

For city runs I would purchase MG Comet EV, at 10 lakhs it gives me perfect small footprint.

For highway long runs I would buy a carens prestige diesel manual at 15 lakhs.

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

The process of searching for two vehicles that fit within the 25Lakh price bracket becomes more intriguing. This is where it goes,

1. Maruti Suzuki Jimny ALPHA MT 13.71Lakh
It will be used for offroading, as a highway cruiser, and as a weekend getaway car.

2. Ford EcoSport Titanium S 1.5TDCi MT 12.00Lakh ( Pre Owned )
It is a great match for both highways and is very comfortable for city driving.

The total comes up to 25,71,000/-. I went overboard by a little bit.

Having a diesel and a petrol is essential for a perfect garage.

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

My third entry for this thread is nicknamed "Pocket Performance" - trying to get the most powerful garage for as cheap as possible.

Kia Carens Gravity 1.5 Turbo iMT - 13.6 Lakh {160 hp}
Citroen C3 Turbo Shine 1.2 AT - 10 Lakh {110 hp}

Total = 23.6 Lakh

A combined 270hp from this garage! Keeping to my previous trend of a TC/CVT for the city/daily commutes, the C3 offers smoothness and also doubles up as a fun little car to drive. The Carens gives plenty of space for 6-7 people, with the 1.5 TGDI just powering it to triple digit speeds in no time. Although I would have preferred a normal MT, the iMT isnt that bad and still provides the easy drivability in urban areas and traffic. I think the Carens base turbo models are the biggest sleepers in the Indian market under 15 lakh.

The challenge is to anyone who can beat 270 hp with 2 cars!

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

I have a very different take on this I guess. I live in Delhi NCR and always see huge lines on the CNG pumps. Although CNG is cost-efficient, it takes a lot of time for refuels.

1. City Car - MG Comet EV Excite FC at 8.56L for ease of driving in the city. It is smaller and lighter than most cars and still comfortable for short rides. Park it anywhere and it looks like a parking spot .EVs are very cost-efficient too. (Although it looks hideous, it's cool if you drive it for daily commute)

2. Highway Car - Hyundai Verna Turbo Manual SX(O) at 16.16L for the fun overtakes and hogging on the highway. Also has a big trunk - very beneficial for family trips.

Whenever bored out of the Comet EV, take the Verna in the city for a spin and have fun!

So that's a total of 24.72L ex-showroom and excites both the traffic tackler and the enthusiast in me.

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

I have a very different take on this I guess. I am only considering new cars for this "challenge?" (For reliability and peace of mind)

Travelling in Delhi NCR or any other Tier 1 City is painful during peak traffic. I find this to be my ideal garage -

1. Efficient City Car - MG Comet EV Excite FC at 8.56L for ease of driving in the city. It is smaller than most cars still comfortable for short rides in the city. Stop it anywhere on the side and it looks like a parking spot . Both time and cost efficient. You can escape the summer heat with the AC in traffic (major reason why I didn't consider a 2 wheeler).

2. Enthusiast Highway Car - Hyundai Verna Turbo Manual SX(O) at 16.16L for the fun overtakes and hogging on the highway. Great features like ADAS, ventilated/heated seats and 5 star safety rating. Also has a big trunk - very beneficial for trips. I find sedans more comfortable for longer rides and they can fit 4 large suitcases pretty easily. Also has huge mod potential waiting to be unleashed. I have the same variant so slightly biased too.

Whenever bored of the Comet EV, take the Verna in the city for a spin and have fun! So that's a total of 24.72L ex-showroom and excites both the traffic tackler and the enthusiast in me.

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

My current 2 car garage is a mixture of performance + efficiency:

1) Hyundai Verna SXO DCT 1.5: has tremendous combination of comfort, space (especially rear leg room and boot) , safety (active and passive) and of course, performance, for its price of about 16-17L ex show room.

2) Maruti Swift ZXI Plus AGS (2024) : A great all round city car with decent highway performance, comfortable interiors, good quality ICE , smooth powerplant, quite a tolerable AMT gearbox that gives incredible city and highway fuel economy.

It doesnt get much better than this for ~25L INR !

Re: Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?

My pick would be a proper driver's garage
The first one is Skoda Slavia sportline 1.5 tsi dsg. Because I need a practical driver focused car which is comfortable enough for going on long drives and going to the grocery store
Price: 16.75 lakh inr

Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?-skodaslaviasportline640x430.jpg

Second car will be a hundred percent driver focused car with very less practicality and it is a used volkswagen polo highline plus 1.0 tsi manual
Price:~8.00 lakh
Best 2-Car garage under 25 lakh rupees?-2020volkswagenpolotsi01.jpg

My dream garage comes at a cost of 24.75 lakhs
