Hello all!

Now, we have seen so many threads on your ideal 1 crore , 2 crore garages. Its quite fun, mixing and matching combinations of our liking and posting it. I have seen such great combinations of such expensive cars. But this time, lets go a bit more realistic I would say, and check out the variety of our car market

Please post your ideal 2 car garage, or car and motorbike combo or if you can ,
3 cars (If you can). Basically, no 1 car garages .

Some Rules

1.Keep the prices of your cars ex-showroom.
2.Please be a bit specific with each car/bike. Mention the trim/variant along with the engine-gearbox combo. Keeps it realistic and interesting.
For example: Kia Seltos GTX+ 1.5D AT/Diesel AT

Total Rs. 26,09,000.
I overshot by Rs 1 Lakh, but this is the best combination that I could come across.

The Kylaq for the comfort and enthusiastic drive and
Jimny for everything else.

I own a Jimny Alpha Automatic. Mine is a one car garage. If I opt for a 2 car garage, then the above mentioned Kylaq Signature + would be home.

The car combination I already own -

Scorpio N Z6 Diesel Manual: Ex-showroom price Rs. 17,00,999
Toyota Glanza S Petrol Automatic: Ex-showroom price Rs. 8,34,000

Have already clocked 17k kms in 9 months in the Scorpio N, effortless mile muncher. Glanza on the other hand is just perfect for city drives or for beater car purposes.

Here's my contribution:

Option 1: City car + Highway car

1. Maruti Alto K10 VXi+(O) AMT + after market CNG kit: ₹5.99L + 60-70K for KIT.

Daily usage car with AMT and CNG which will keep both our left leg and wallet happy.



2. Tata Curvv Accomplished+A TGDi MT: ₹17.66L

A safe car for highway driving, and also opting a MT here too avoid the hassles of DCT.



Option 2: Compact SUV + Bike

1. Thar Roxx AX7L Diesel AT 4WD with Mocha Interiors: ₹23.09L

All-rounder car - Good road presence, Feature loaded, Safe, 4WD, Good Diesel-AT combo.



2. Pre-owned Triumph Speed 400 from the odd ₹2L left!



Option 3: EV Garage

1. Tata Curvv EV Empowered+ LR: ₹21.25L



2. Ather Rizta Z 3.7kWh Pro Pack : ₹1.63L



Invest the rest ₹2L in a Nifty50 Index Fund

Option 4: Performance Garage

1. Hyundai Verna SX(O) DCT : ₹17.48L



2. Pre-owned Polo TSi for ~ ₹7.5L

1. Pre-owned MS Swift or Baleno (6 lakhs) as beater car
2. Mahindra BE 6 pack one (18.90 lakhs) for everything else

My Options would be :
1. A Jimny Alpha - 14 big ones
2. A pre-owned 7 seater for 6, it will be taken out only once in a while, so a petrol Innova or an Ertiga or BR-V would suffice.
3. Aprilia RS457 - The remaining 5.

As I typed this out, the realisation hit that this is actually possible with a Discounted 2024 Jimny and I could find a 7 seater for the remainder.

1. XUV 7OO AX7 Diesel AT- 22L Ex-Showroom.

2. Kwid RXE- 4.7L Ex-Showroom.


If it has to be strictly within the 25L mark, then the choice would be-

1. Verna SX(O) DCT- 17.48L Ex-Showroom

2. Ignis Zeta AMT- 7.84L Ex-Showroom(should be able to get a discount)

Also guys, going overbudget by a bit is alright.

1.Hyundai Creta N Line N8 MT (Black) - 16.93 Lakh
2. Maruti Suziki Dzire VXi AMT - 8.34 Lakh

Total = 25.27 Lakh

Mine would be Creta and Baleno for 25 lacs. Pushing it a bit, might take XUV 700 and Baleno!

If its a single driver 2 car garage - 25L doesn't really get any good combination of cars that cover quality+performance+safety OR at least 2 of these aspects. Go pre-owned to get a nice tourer car + 1 good safe city-run-about.

If its a 25L budget for 2 drivers to use as daily drivers and beaters - then there are good options at least. One can go for a pair of Nexons or Nexon+Altroz, Brezza-Ignis, Fronx-Swift, Nexon-Tiago/Ignis etc. Combinations.

For a 1 driver 2 car (new) garage that needs to have safety + distinct purpose of use + quality - the budget needs to be a minimum of 30L today. In such a case, I'd go with -

1. 1. Virtus GT DSG + Altroz DCA
2. 2. Curvv Diesel DCA + Ignis AMT

30L is the golden minimum number IMO. with 25L budget - the choices are going to be compromised somewhere or the other. Better to just buy 1 good car then.

I chose the Skoda Kylaq Signature+ Automatic &
Maruti Jimny Alpha Manual

The thought process is,

Skoda Kylaq: FWD, Monocoque body, built for highway stability and comfort. The 3 Cylinder Turbo 1.0 TSI engine with TC Automatic gearbox is a hoot to drive and extremely comfortable with great stability and drive dynamics.

Maintenance: Being a Skoda Perhaps a bit on expensive side.

This is the "Highways are calling" vehicle.

Maruti Jimny: RWD, Ladder frame chassis, 4x4 with low gear transfercase, Go anywhere vehicle, Naturally aspirated 4 Cylinder engine with 5 speed manual GB is built like a tank and last forever.

Maruti Maintenance: Easy on pocket.
And this is "The mountains are calling" vehicle

Both vehicles are as different as Chalk and Cheese. Diametrically opposite in every respect and having both in the garage is like having the best of both worlds.

Well, I can chuckle and be content that, "Mine can go faster and mine can also go anywhere"

I'll go for Carens Turbo petrol iMT Prestige - 17L for highway drives, family outing, luggage hauling.
And a used Jazz/Amaze CVT after 2018 for 8L.

If I have to go new, then Ignis Delta AMT should come within 8L.

Absolutely correct.

With a 25L rupee ex showroom budget, I’ll overshoot it by a bit over a lakh and get myself an Innova Hycross VX hybrid. One single car, that provides complete all round utility.

My second entry on this list, this one a bit more economical and probably for the people who care about mileage.

Kia Seltos HTK+(O) 1.5 Diesel MT - 15.9 Lakh
Honda Amaze V CVT - 9.3 Lakh

Total = 25.2 Lakh

A base AMT from Maruti and Hyundai would also work, but for city commutes I would like something smooth in traffic. Only a TC and CVT will work and for this garage a Amaze CVT fits.
For the highway runs or when I need to ferry people, the Seltos MT does the job, with its frugal diesel and smooth manual for long trips. Kia diesels are smooth which is why I chose it although 16 lakh does seem a bit much, this variant of the Seltos could have been around 15 lakh. But the extra features is nice to have.
