Nissan Magnite might get a retrofit CNG kit option soon

Renault recently launched a retrofit CNG kit for the Kiger. It seems Nissan is also planning to offer this option to Magnite customers.

Nissan is believed to be testing CNG kits for the Magnite. In fact, a test prototype was recently spotted at a service centre, which has raised speculations about its impending launch.

Nissan might source the CNG kits from the same vendor as Renault. The company could offer them to customers at an additional cost, which in the case of the Renault Kiger is Rs 79,500.

Like the Kiger, the Magnite is likely to get a CNG option with the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated 3-cylinder engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The CNG kit will be duly homologated and is expected to be offered with a warranty.

According to the latest reports, the Nissan Magnite CNG is likely to be launched by April this year. It could get the same retrofit kit as the Kiger, which will be offered to customers at an additional cost and installed at the dealer's end.

The Magnite CNG will be powered by the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated 3-cylinder petrol engine. It will be paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The CNG kit is likely to be sourced from the same vendor as Renault. It will be duly homologated and offered with a warranty.

Current 1L NA engine in Magnite is already sluggish. Wouldn't a CNG kit make it more tiresome?

People looking for fuel efficiency hardly consider Renault or Nissan products.

There is no way those 1.0 engines with the added weight of the CNG is worth spending almost 80K on. You'd need to be in the tourist car business to recover that kind of money with the added maintenance.

That would be interesting to observe. In fact it would have a large influence on CNG variants success. The NA is surely sluggish. But then if you can get a higher segment Magnite for the price of a CNG wagon R am sure the use case would add numbers.

Petrol is 100+ across the nation. CNG, specially in NCR is now freely available. Sales should get a boost.
