Deliveries starting next month likely from April 14th.
Hi, if ex showroom is 48L, road tax in KA is 20.08% for this car. You can add 1.5 to 2L in insurance costs and other charges. It will touch 60L easily.

Went to the prebook link to find out more.
Must say the color options on offer are lovely imo, in particular the Cipressino Green and the Grenadilla Black.

A 17 bhp increase in power and the same torque compared to the outgoing model. Less than 10% increase in power but arond 60% increase in price! Reminds me of the second generation Polo GT TDI where ther regular Polo came with 90 BHP and the GT TDI came with 105 BHP and the same 250 NM torque.

Same old warped product strategy and placement.

With this state of tune it should not be priced over 40-42L ex showroom. CBU vs CKD is the difference here but that won't matter to customers. Upcoming CKD Kodiaq even with 190 PS at say 45L ex showroom will be a better buy (atleast for me). Love the way it looks, stunning alloys as well.

What happened to the 265 tune? Does it at least get DCC and the other R-Line technical upgrades?
Me too. I hope they include DCC, even current-generation Kodiaq has it. I have contacted a local VW dealer for more info. Also, it is not clear if we will be getting 19 inch alloys. The only major upgrade seems to be the price (38 -> 50ish).

re: VW Tiguan R Line to be launched on April 14. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 49 lakhs

From the VW site, I was able to gather the following.
  1. Lower drag co-efficient - 0.33Cd -> 0.28Cd
  2. Front Massage seats
  3. IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights
  4. Digital Cockpit based on the MIB4 (Saw reference to OTA updates, not sure of this)
  5. The new model is additionally equipped as standard with a Vehicle Dynamics Manager – an MQB system that made its debut in the current Golf GTI3.

As for the DCC, it's called DCC Pro and is not clear if it will be included, probably not, given the way VW has downgraded the engine and the infotainment screen size.

Electronically controlled running gear for added convenience and dynamics. The MQB evo provides the basis for a new running gear generation. Alongside a host of individual measures, Volkswagen has revamped the adaptive chassis control DCC: with the optional DCC Pro with two-valve shock absorbers2. The new model is additionally equipped as standard with a Vehicle Dynamics Manager – an MQB system that made its debut in the current Golf GTI3. The system controls the functions of the electronic differential locks (XDS) and the lateral dynamics components of the controlled shock absorbers in the DCC Pro system. Wheel-specific braking interventions and selective changes in the shock absorber hardness lead to greater comfort and enhanced performance during dynamic cornering. This makes the vehicle handling more stable, agile and precise.

re: VW Tiguan R Line to be launched on April 14. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 49 lakhs

The regular Tiguan is now officially discontinued? It's not visible on VW site now. Any idea if the third generation regular Tiguan will be assembled in India or only Tayron will be introduced as regular replacement?

I'd think straight to the Tayron around Diwali or Christmas time.

The Tiguan R-line is a CBU, and the Indian avatar is about as "regular" as it gets now that VW has downgraded the engine. The sportiness is a function of the 265 PS engine that gets to 100KPH in less than 6 seconds. Tayron is a 7 seater and is meant to replace the All-Space and not the regular Tiguan.

I wish we get the regular Tiguan (besides the premium R line) as well and that too for 'regular' purchase and not some lucky draw limited numbers. I find the 5 seater far more proportionate.

re: VW Tiguan R Line to be launched on April 14. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 49 lakhs

The announcement said 'Top of the line features '. So I assume it will have DCC as well as Surround View aka 360 degree camera view and cooled seats instead of ventilated seats in India specific version launched. Since the Power figures are unchanged, ideally it should not get 'much' boost in list price. I understand being CBU, taxation will be different but VW should price it competitively if they really want to sell it here and increase the sales numbers and loyal customers. If they follow Skoda's strategy of launching CBU Superb, then they are done. Period!

So you mean to say there will be no CKD assembled Tiguan in India anymore? I already know that the R Line is a CBU and hence will be overpriced irrespective of its 100 kph time or engine output. My question was limited to CKD Tiguan only.

My Thar Roxx petrol automatic (MX3) gets me 177 ps and 380 NM at almost a third of the price. The mStallion engine is equally refined and powerful as the EA888, been driving it the last few months. Has 12% less power, but 20% more torque.

VW needs to realize they do not have the kind of powertrain differentiation they enjoyed in the past. Five years ago, to get a properly modern and powerful petrol in the region of 2000 cc, you had to go to the Germans' direct injected and turbocharged ones. Now M&M, Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota and others are able to bring world-class petrol powertrains (either GDI or hybrid) at much lesser price points. The mStallion in Mahindra SUVs, the hybrid powertrain the the HyCross or XTrail are each superb in their own right.

Tbh, I am surprised that a CBU Tiguan R-Line is priced at less than 50L. That seems to be decent value for a CBU but remains to be seen how the market (read customers) responds.

Skoda was struggling to clear the last batch of Kodiaq for 41.99 lakhs. Increasing the price would be a bit ambitious considering the new car is essentially the same platform. 40.99-42.99L would be a safe zone.

VW has discontinued the current generation of the Tiguan ahead of Tiguan R-Line launch.

Was available in a single loaded variant Elegance at ₹38.17L.

Next gen Tiguan to launch by this year end.
