Have been waiting for a year already for this stuff...price is surely 30 to 40k higher than what i expected. But considering hyundai's suicidal pricing history, this is no suprise, in fact bit cheaper.

who needs a 110hp with vgt under the hood of a hatch? that too without abs!? hmmm...I heard FE is better than swift, is it true?

Overall, typical good quality hyundai car but not a value buy.

Well - The quality of Hyundai is top notch - at par with Honda / Toyota.

The Swift Diesel on the other hand is way behind Hyundai in terms of quality. I was driving my friends Swift D the other day and was shocked to see the quality of the Power window switches ( TACKY !! ), the roof carpetting was pathetic - it looked like it was about to fall off. The seat cushioning was horrible.

I am sure people owning Swift will agree with me - Of curse the engine is a different story altogether.

Getz will sell I believe - People would not mind paying an additional 60 - 70k for the quality of Getz and plus that se*y engine.

Actually it is wrong comparing both these cars - as someone earlier mentioned - PA CRDi will be more of a Swift D Competetor.

Getz CRDI is more of a Fusion Diesel / Logan competetor.

Isnt this the one that has a 70 bhp 1.1 litre CRDi engine? I think this is fair comparison to the Swift, then.

Hope they get the pricing right. It could prove more of a competition to the Swift than the Getz!

Yup the Swifts quality is one of its drawbacks.

Sorry, but they are planing to plonk in the 1.1L CRDi engine in the Pa. Do you have any source which says that they plan not to have a diesel.

You seem to be pretty confident about it.

Spoke to my soruce and he said there is no way that they are going to put a diesel in it, reason being it will become quite pricey and getz in getz territory. Currently just the petrol and then Hyundai will study the market whether the diesel is feasible but currently its more like the following plans for Hyundai.

Now - Getz CRDi GVS
Diwali - PA Petrol
December - January - New Elantra
Feb - March - Top end Getz Diesel (might, depends on market response again)
June - Santa FE
Next Diwali - New Santro.

Since you own both Verna CRDI + sx4 I guess you would be in a better position to comment on the comparison of those 2 monsters.

As far as Getz vs Swift handling I would pick Swift. Not that the Getz handling is bad but Swift is better. The getz we have is also running an upsize.

Regarding power in a hatch - Mini Cooper, VW Golf GT I vaaaaaaaaant !

Practically speaking, I agree with you. Daily city driving(especially Bangalore) no one needs that kind of power and it will hardly be put to use.

Getz will not be able to touch Swift DDis in the FE department. In fact FE will be nothing to boast about imho.

I agree with jeetu, the best cars from maruti stable cant even match the quality their competition.

Swift is known for rattling issues i know a lot of swift owners here will testify that it isnt but i dont beleive they are as good in build as their competition.

another issue i highlighted once : http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/new-in...ft-diesel.html

I wonder what the pricing of the top-end diesel Getz would be? 6.2L - 6.5L ex-showroom? That would bring it up against the SX4 (leave alone Swift)!

New Santro? I thought they were gradually going to phase out Santro with the Pa.

I think he was saying 110 bhp is too much for a hatch without ABS, and not that its not needed!

Definately a change in name, you wont call two PA's as PAPA??

Yup something on those lines but then a Swift ZDi wont be cheap either.

Santro is like Hyundais Alto/800, the bread and butter model, the PA should be competing with the WagonR and Estilo and then Getz will take on the Swift.

Santa FE will be launched to take on the Grand Khatara.

Just a quick analysis on few critical differences between GetzD and SwiftD

- Very spacious interior (real 5 seater)
- Matured build quality, on par with Honda (ready to pay 20-30k for that thunk while closing the door! i hate SX4 material quality)
- Powerful engine 110hp > 75hp
- VGT (less maintenance)
- 1.5l makes highway driving easier (full 200cc difference)
- better suspension than Swift (excellent ride quality in its class)
- 60:40/reclining back seats
- clutch foot rest (you need in hiways...)
- bigger boot
- tilt steering (my wife needs it badly)
- FE on par with Swift if not better
- Bigger Torque 240 Vs 175
- Beige interiors
- Wooden trimmed center console
- Rear defogger

This website says 4.4l/100km as FE for this 110hp CRDI. Ours should be somewhat closer I hope.
