Guys! Jus spoke to the dealer. there's no verna VGT coming in the getz!! it is a 1.5L 3 Cylinder engine with around 85 bhp!! the ex showroom price in delhi is around 5.60lac, ie on road around 6.10l. It will reach cochin next week, he claims that the car has been launched in delhi today!

Goodbye Hyundai, a 3 pot engine in the Getz wont do any good, it seems they are using the old CRDI engine of the Accent, sadly they are charging too much for it as well, costlier then Swift for what? For that silly engine? No ways is it going to be better then a Swift which boasts of 16v, DOHC, 1242cc engine with 19KGM torque.

Contradictory to what the above poster said. But seems like this might be the truth :( Fully loaded, ABS and all?

Info. on getz diesel

Hyundai Getz Diesel (CRDi)

January 16th, 2007 by Banwari Lal Sharma

When to expect: August-October 2007

Estimated Price: Rs.5-6 Lakh

Getz would be economical now. And more powerful too. 1.5L CRDi engine (yes, the same that is found in Accent CRDi) will produce 88ps of power and 215Nm of torque. Car is expected to give 13-14 kmpl in city driving and close to 20 kmpl on highways. Yes, you got it right, it would be as economical as Indica as far as fuel prices are concerned. If you think, Getz drinks a lot, it’s time to change your views.

Price is expected to be 50,000-75,000 rupees higher than Getz Petrol. Price seems justified if we ignore the fact that Petrol Getz is still expensive no matter how many and how much price-cut(s) have occured so far.

Quick Facts
Car Segment/Body style: Small Car/Premium Hatchback
Fuel Type: Diesel
Engine: 1.5L (1493cc), 4-cylinder CRDi Diesel
Max Power/Torque: 88ps/215Nm
Dimensions (LxWxH): 3810×1665x1515 mm
Carwale Expects: Getz’s economical and more powerful version. Ideal for those who like Getz Petrol but are reluctant due to fuel expenses. We are worried about buying cost!

No, i dont think any engine south of 1.6L can beat the 1.3DDIS or MJD what ever you call it as.

I spoke to Hyundai 6 months or so back, their regional office person said they wont use the Accent engine for sure since its passe, they are going to use the Verna engine, he even went to the extent saying we dont use outdated technology and the 3 pot engine is a vibrating marvel.

Current CRDi engine, without VGT. i.e., regular Turbo, no variable geometry.

See THIS LINK (Hyundai's CRDi Engine Range) from nearly 2 years back.

Here are the engine specs from the hyundai site:

Quote:
The new Getz Prime 1.5 Diesel is a performance driven, four cylinder, Common Rail Direct Injection (CRDi) turbo charged engine with VGT, which produces an impressive 110 PS@4000 rpm as peak power and ensures quick response and robust acceleration. With an impressive torque of 24 kgm@1900~2750rpm, the car has excellent pick-up and performance. A ground clearance of 160 mm makes it perfect for Indian roads. The engine is mated to an efficient 5-speed manual transmission.
