Guys Guys - no point in speculating things here.

I spoke to the dealer in Gurgaon and he now confirms that Getz CRDi has been officially launched at Hyundai's plant - which means production has started but not a single dealer in India has gotten the cars yet.

In fact Gtez CRDi he says is a miniature of the Verna - it has all features - ABS Is optional for 20 k !!

Also the getz does get Rear Wiper & All the small bits and pieces.

So lets not make wild guesses and let the official car launch and then talk if it is a good idea to buy Getz instead of a Swift.

I agree with you that if the Getz Is launched with no frills - only the engine - then people are going to give it a second thought before buying it.

Cheers !!

Ouuii !!!

Strange - I spoke to Manager last evening and he said ABS Is optional !!

BUT even I went through the LInk - it says no.

I am not bothered with the other bits - the only thing that dissappoints me is ABS - I did not mind paying the extra bit also.

I gotta TD one soon so I can decide.

Samurai - do you know when are the dealers getting any stock ?

This just in : Rs. 662,823 on the road Mumbai. No ABS. Just too darn expensive for a diesel hatch man! Compare that to the Swift VDi at Rs.586,583 on the road. Thats an almost 80 grand premium to a market that anyways prefers the Swift to the Getz.

Hyundai India = Absolute idiots. Get Subbu back.

Thats day light robbery. Thats too much for a hatchback. With all the power ABS is a must. How can someone like Hyundai who ABS on a Santro leave it out in a bigger hatchback especially with that Verna engine. Absolute stupidity on Hyundai's part. I dont think the Swift sales will really be dented.

Apart from the more powerful engine, what are the other features, if any, that the Getz has over the Swift Vdi to justify the 80K premium? That price of the Swift VDi is with ABS? Also, I am guessing that due to the extra power the Getz will also be slightly less fuel efficient then the Swift, is that right?

Maybe their maths is extra bhp + extra torque + more space + built quality = 80k

sad that they dnt give ABS even as an option.

Extra features compared to Swift are nil. Just the same. Infact the Swift VDi has fog lamps which the Getz does not have.

So in bangalore it will cost more than 7L. Sad.

You said it. Great products as before, but their pricing, positioning and marketing have gone through for a toss.

Perhaps living next to Ford is contagious.

None of dealers in Pune and Mumbai confirms this. Can somebody check in other parts of India?

With so much power and no ABS, it's high risk to drive this car. Hyundai has again reassured that Swift VDI is more VFM.

I would still prefer swift with ABS over the Getz CRDI without safe brakes.

Another flop on the way for sure if this continues. Was planning to shift over to a getz crdi instead of opting for a swift diesel but heck the pricing is way way out for a hatchback. The swift diesel seems expensive to people and now this one.
This car aint giving any competition to any swift diesel.

This ABS/No ABS thing is worrying me. Senior director at a Hyundai dealership assures me ABS at no extra.

Official Hyundai source (website) states No ABS.

I was on the verge of cancelling my Swift VDi booking !
