Yes, state registration doesn't matter the previous ownership history does. But there are few things you should know about and be careful of. For example TN cars from a certain year period which might have been flood damaged have gone all across the country to be fixed and sold off which were scrapped.

Exercise good judgement and you can get a great deal. Especially Diesel cars around 7-8 years old in NCR become kryptonite so they are usually good deals to be had. But there is an nexus of dealers from neighbouring states which pick them up before they even hit the market. One has to remember that NCR has more vehicles than all the other metros combined so it is a huge market.

That being said, what may certainly help is if you can explain your inspection process, what are your red flags, and how did you sift the oranges from the lemons in your recent purchases.
Well after experiencing few ‘too good to be true’ deals, I can assure you those deals do exist.
My recent deal on Mahindra Thar is quite an example. It was a distress sale sourced through OLX, owner wanted the funds just 2 days after seeing the car. The car itself had quite a few modifications including Wrangler Grill, Bumper, Radar Tyres(worth 2 lakhs IMO). It was 2021 model run 24k km Petrol 4x4 MT
I got the car for the price of a Top end Glanza

Here’s a pic for same

Regarding my process-
1. I only look at cars <4 years old run <35k km having some time of warranty remaining.
2. Try to find a Direct owners car, but do not completely reject dealer offering either.
3. See the service record by paying nominal fee using Cars24 services. If it turns out fine then only I visit to see the car
4. Go to see the car with a trusted mechanic. Have a good long conversation with owner and if willing do see their other vehicles too.
IMO this gives a good idea about the car history. Also after going through all this there is a gut feeling too.
Like- With Thar, I was completely sold on the car as this point only. Didn’t even want to get the car checked at Authorised SC.
5. Take the car to authorised service centre for checkup. This gives a complete picture about the car.

All these are Non-negotiable for me. If car passes through all these with flying colours then only I buy it.
This based on my experience of buying just 3-4 pre owned cars so do take it with a pinch of salt

Other members like bhpian @chair has explained it better, do go through it

Funnily enough it was second owner even then. So anyone looking at this should look into the documents too carefully.
That’s good to know man
Will alert other bhpians too.
Should surely skip it.

Re: Amazing deals on Used Cars in India | List them here

I adore this thread but I am noticing an interesting pattern:

Why are almost ALL of the cars have different city of registration and ad posting? In an ideal world, when the seller wants to sell, they would list it in their own city's classified. What's the rationale behind someone posting an ad in Kanpur for a car from Assam?

Volvo XC90 B6
Classifieds Link:https://www.cartrade.com/second-hand...=listing_share
Make & Model: Volvo XC90
Asking Price: 70,00,000
Year:2022

Regn State: Don’t know

There are Multiple Q7 and XC90 available but these are the best prices I could find. These have already lost 1/3rd price in just 2-3 years and still negotiations will reduce the price further.
Volvo has advantage of being Direct Owner listing. And having higher power tune as compared to current model on sale(B6 vs B5)

Wouldn’t name them because it’s against the forum rules.

Kms: 17,000
Fuel: Petrol
Location of the posting: Gurgaon
Regn State: HR (98)

Interested members can PM, I will share the details
