Done the calc's as per information on TATA website for 2.2l VTT for Karnataka/Bangalore pricing.

Model___Ex-Showroom(4x2)_Net Price 4x2__4x4
LX ______7,27,001_________8,27,691/-___NA
EX ______8,48,117/- _______9,65,581/-___10,67,419/-
VX _____10,38,074/- ______12,02,609/-___13,11,106/-

Have taken insurance at 3.85% of ex-showroom price and RTO for Karnataka @ 10% for < 10L and 12% for > 10L ex-showroom price. Keep some 10K extra to the net cost for registration/ number plate and the service charge the showroom charges.

And the additional warranty is up to 4 years, 150,000Kms. Now that's confidence.

The new features have been marked with # in this page.

That's good. What was the old warranty like? Have they increased the duration or the max kms?

I guess that is the safest bet for those who are still skeptical about Tata cars.

For me having Indica owner for last 6 year, this is a party time.

I saw a Demo Car standing outside Dhingra Motors, Gurgaon, and few doing some round in Gurgaon. Will do the research on car and finance this weekend

The top end VX with 4X4 is more than 13 L on Road. The price hike of 90K from the earlier versions is unwarranted.
Is Tata seeing a mad rush for 2.2L Safaris. I think they will come to terms in 6 months and will have a price drop of at least 50-75K from current levels. Else the competition (Especially Scorpio) will take away some more of the market share in this segment.

And no ABS & EBD...! They should have atleast ABS in EX . For somebody who seldom has a rear seat passenger, DVD is a costly frill. And paying 2 lacs more for VX to get the safety features is ridiculous.

Guys, the earlier warranty was for 18 months but unlimited mileage - all they've done is increased it to 2 years but laid down a limit of 75k kms; I'm not sure how this is better. My 3.0L has a 4 year bumper to bumper unlimited mileage warranty (including the 30 months additional warranty)

There never was & this is what I have never understood - only the VX has the safety features as in the earlier model

Dieselfan, are you sure about the 90k hike, what are you comparing with? Seems like an approx hike of 30k from what I can see.

To consolidate the only difference in VX Vs EX is:

Comfort
- DVD MP3 player
- Headrest mounted LCD screens on Front Seats

Safety
- Dual Airbags (for Driver & Co-driver)
- Anti Lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD)
- Rear view Camera for Reversing with LCD Display in IRVM

Style
- Beige Leather seats
- Wood finish Central Console
- Alloy wheel rims

All safety features if added to EX will also add to the cost considerably and then the only difference will be the cosmetics. They have to create a substantial difference between the variants to sell/ cater to the markets.

I just got a call from one of the Chennai dealers, with whom I had enquired for the 2.2. The Chennai launch is being done in style. There is a launch dinner party at the Taj Coromandel tomorrow (05 OCT)

Cochin launch on 8th Oct at the Taj (which one, I dont know - probably the Residency since the Malabar is a bit far). Vehicles are available at RF, though I'm not sure if they're open for tests before the official launch.

The chap mentioned they may have 'exchange' offers, but somehow I'd prefer a new engine to a new vehicle.
