NEW DELHI: Automobile components manufacturer Tata AutoComp Systems Ltd (TACO) today said it would set up a passenger car airbag testing facility in partnership with Canada's Microsys Technologies.
The facility, expected to be operational by December this year, would be configured with high-speed cameras capable of capturing 4,000 frames per second to analyse airbag deployment after a collision. It would come up at Tata AutoComp's facility in Pune, TACO said in a statement.

atleast someone is taking the initiative. hoping that others will follow suit.

Really appreciate the Tatas for taking the lead in setting up such facilities. India's first scientifically designed vehicle testing track was also set up by Tata Motors as also India's first crash-testing facility.

I believe they are going to set it up in TAPS (Tata Autoplastics), Hinjewadi, behind tech park.

Logically, it must be a airbag manufacturing facility.
Airbag testing can be done abroad. We need localised production of airbags to provide safety to as many as possible.
