Saurabh,

There has been quite a few questions about the ease of use of the gear shifter, given its location. Since you have driven a manual Civic which also has the same gear arrangement, what is your opinion of this location and can you also compare the shifter in both cars?

Prices are between 3.39 lakhs and 4.9 lakhs ex showroom Delhi.

They are hoping to sell 1.5 lakh cars in the domestic market next year. Are they crazy? I think that the target is too aggressive and will be very hard to meet!

1.1 Crdi engine

According to Business Standard The company will start exporting the 1.1 Crdi engine i10 from January 2008. Also the same engine would be introduced in India sometime in second quarter (statement by Mr Lheem).

The company is targeting 2 lakh units in 2 years!! Not sure but i believe this includes export numbers as well.

Also i10 is being manufactured in the new plant.

This is what Hyundai person told me.

Automatic version come in Era and Magna both the trims. Prices of AT is not revealed yet. AT will be with 4 speed.

Fit and finish, quality, interiors, technology is much better than Maruti cars hence one can see slightly costly compared with Maruti cars.

So people who need economy can still stick to Maruti and Innovative minds who look for safety, space, practicality, fit and finish, cool features (many featrures first in its class refer i10 website for details) can test drive and decide if i10 is worth.

This is my initial impression and In 1 week time I plan to test drive it.

Regards,

Ravi.

Also vastly different from an engineering point of view. The UP has its engine in the rear, ala the original Beetle. VW claims that it results in a lot more interior and trunk space. The trunk is of course now in the front.

Where is the fishy thingy in the comparision between Swift and i10 ??

Also, can you explain what made you say that the i10 is better than the Swift petrol in terms of performance too ?? Any test drive taken in both the cars prior to this statement ?? A glance at the specs of both the cars says something quite opposite but I would still rely on info after a test drive of both the cars under standard conditions of personal use.

But I do agree to refrain from any comparision between the two on this thread.

from the look of the seats i quite like it, dont fancy the gear shifter though.

A quick look at the i10 shows the grille / front end is on the lines of the CR-V, and the gear lever as seen a few years back on Honda / Acura models ..
