Is it just me or is the car butt ugly?I don't think it could look more Korean even if it tried.European styling??I don't think so and beige doesn't make an interior good looking, the design does.

Looks wise the car looks like a winner to me, the features are good and so are the interiors, now time for a test drive.

The diesel will give splash some competition.

i10 vs Santro Xing

Comparing Santro Xing to i10, I dont find any major improvement in overall measurements, except for a 7cm increase in width. Not sure how much this will translate inside, considering the more luxurious door trim levels. Also the kerb weight seems to be about 100kg more for high end model, which may affect the FE.

See the table below with Santro Xing and i10 figures respectively

Overall Length (mm) 3565; 3565
Overall Width (mm) 1525; 1595
Overall Height (mm) 1590; 1550
Wheelbase (mm) 2380; 2380
Ground Clearance (mm) 164; 165
Front Track 1315; 1400
Rear Track 1300; 1385
Min Turning Radius (m) 4.4; ???
Kerb Weight (Kg) 854(M/T); 860-952 (M/T)
Fuel Tank capacity 35; 35

ENGINE
Maximum Power (ps@rpm) 63@5500; 66.7@5500
Maximum Torque (Kgm@rpm) 9.8 @ 3000; 10.1@2800

TYRE
Size 155/70 R13; 155/80 R13 Tubeless

Fit and finish, quality, interiors, technology is much better than Maruti cars hence one can see slightly costly compared with Maruti cars.

So people who need economy can still stick to Maruti and Innovative minds who look for safety, space, practicality, fit and finish, cool features (many featrures first in its class refer i10 website for details) can test drive and decide if i10 is worth.

This is my initial impression and In 1 week time I plan to test drive it.

Regards,

Ravi.[/quote]

Hi Mr.Bhat,
We know that you have had a swift and had to sell it (for whatever reasons). But that doesnt mean that Maruti cars are crap and it is not as though the major part of Indian car buyers are idiots without innovative minds!
You have had a first hand impression of the swift but not the i10. In such a case it is not justifiable to make such comparisons out of the hat. If you have hatred for Maruti, it will help if we know the reason for it and not blanket statements such as above.

Thanks.

Eds: Guess my post will be off topic, but is in reply. Please feel free to delete or move if necessary,

Not until you get to know exactly how much the i10 you desire will cost on road.

I am sure it will cost around getz 1.1 ..
but point is will it capture getz 1.1 market and will cause 1.1's resale value to move southwards??

Getz is much more spacious in comparison with a wider body and longer wheelbase. Otherwise, i10 looks a better case.

i'd say hold it for a day or 2 - do a TD on the the i10 and then decide between getz 1.1 and i10. If it was me, eve though I like the getz a lot, given that i10 is a new model, I would give it a serious thought over the old getz which will soon be replaced by i20
