Remember seeing something like this in the late 1980s in an Indian auto magazine. The four seats were reupholstered 1987 Maruti 800 front seats. The body was made of fibre-glass.

A first thought was, why not just exploit the Maruti 800 monocoque.
Lighten it by throwing away the doors and rear hatch.
Power the crate with a small two-cylinder engine.
Wouldn't it make for a dandy autorickshaw, good for puttering gently along
crowded bylanes in the downtown areas.

No Way, an auto seating only 4 will work in India.

An auto is expected to carry atleast 10 kids or 8 adults.

Are you kidding? In cities with huge populations of autorickshaws, such as, Mumbai, Thane or Pune, the driver will be cited by the police for carrying excess passengers!

ummm. Wait till you see 5 sitting in the front. Yes. Just in the front. Space efficiency like none other. And then to top it, they will scream, "Kya bathaoon sir? Mileage bahut kam ataa hai!!!"

New Piaggio autorickshaw

Hi guys,
Saw this recently in a news paper. This new Auto from Piaggio looks cool, safe and as per the report is destined for India . That would be a hell of a ride in a cute rickshaw.
Hopefully the drivers would be models from beauty peagents.

C'mon, we are waiting.

This is the new small three seater car from Piaggio based on the Ape auto. I read this in the papers last week and is expected to cost about 1.5 Lakhs INR.

I am sure these are concept vehicles and will not hit our roads any time soon. But its a pretty cool thing on the roads. I like the funky colours. Will be better off in hotels/golf courses I guess.
