This went fairly unnoticed. Did anyone know that the SRV also has the 2L TCDi engine inside. As per the chevrolet website it costs Rs. 7.9L exshowroom delhi.

I wonder how it is with the diesel engine now. looks to be promising although the pricing is not that great.

ps: if the thread exists or it has been posted before apologies as I didn't find it.

This sure is news to me!

I guess SRV will now find more than a couple of hundred odd buyers who were willing to buy the vehicle (me included) but due to the pathetic engine compared to a japanese car, were shying away from it.

Great job vid

I was comparing Magnum with SRV diesel variants and I found that SRV has loads of good features vis-a-vis Magnum Max (base Variant). SRV is also 1 L cheaper than Magnum. I am not sure why people should pay a high price and buy a magnum (Is it just to get 25 cm of more length?). it doesn't make sense. see the comparison in below link -

So much for that lazy engine in a "sporty" car......the diesel is surely more competent. And faster. But then, a diesel sporty car?

What exactly is the SRV's positioning because I am sure as hell confused.

I hope the SRV has a stiffer chassis than the optra. That oil burner coupled with a nice chassis would make one hell of a car.

8L for a hatch ?? Isnt that a bit too much ?
Even if it is diesel and all, 8L is a bit hard to swallow, atleast for me.

The surprise is, their official website do not talk about diesel varient. very good find Vid. SRV Chill Zone

cool find vid, i never knew SRV had a diesel in it! well i agree that the cost might seem too much, but its a hot hatch atleast with looks, so its probably justified to be in the 7 lac territory though not in the 8 lacs one.

that aside if at all honda launches jazz, i m sure it wont/cant be around 5 lac! it would rather be about 6-7 lacs! somehow the manuf cost for all these seem too high even now to break price barriers. no guesses which diesel will be winner then! i'm waiting for the PUNTO!

Sporty: For the feel & thrill
Diesel: For the pocket :)

Agree with Diabloo: It should be a stonker with the new engine and the lighter (?) weight as compared to the Optra Magnum!

I for one don't really care about the fuel used as long as I stay ahead of the plebs :-)

Also the latest Autocar has a article on a GM-partnered (semi-official) supercharger kit option for the petrol SRV which boosts power etc but MAY void the warranty. Why would anyone go for something like that if the diesel delivers?

Thats a great find but I dont understand why the company hasnt taken any effort in promoting it coz compared to Fusion diesel , SRV simply rocks !!!!! Great move by GM , hmm...they are really moving fast these days.

IMHO 8lac for the SRV diesel with that amazing engine and all options is way more justified than 8.75lac for the NHC Vtec plus. To hell with the boot...

Hmmmm, the old man slowly inches to the GM dealer this weekend

Single Malt with diesel!!!

When did this come out? Why, oh why did I buy the saloon?

I wonder what kind of discounts and finance incentives GM is offering on this. If any. Its tempting! The SRV finally has decent power to go with its looks.
