Read in today's HT... according to latest J.D. power figures, WagonR has been ranked no.1 in Premium compact car segment in terms of Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) ratings..... it overtakes Santro which now ranks no.2.. (previous 4 studies santro ranked no.1)...

We always knew it...now its official.. clap:

This is really wierd isn't it. If the Santro is the best selling car and if the Wagon is liked the most. It can mean only one thing.

People have been buying the wrong car?

That's absolutely India for you. LOL

A good car is judged not by sales figures... but by its performance, safety and customer satisfaction!!!.....if sales was the only criterion... Maruti 800 would have been one of the most technically superior vehicle in its class.. which we know is not...

this is wierd.......Santro the best selling car and Wagon R the most liked car!! huh??
What are people upto?? Why would they go in for a Santro, if they like the WagonR??

VFM is the word.

The thing is.. by the word APEAL.. we dont mean how much 'apeal' a car gives to public or how much we love a particular car... APEAL here stands for Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout , which actually is a some kind of "technical superiority" ranking.. which has nothing to do with how much this car apeals to a person... I hope you get my point....

So even if WagonR has more APEAL, it may not actually apeal to the public as much.. maybe because of its Boxy looks, poor marketing, and the fact that the very much loved Shahrookh Khan is not seen with a WagonR in the idiot box....

well dceite you're right but not entirely right. it is true that APEAL means "Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout". But it doesn't mean that it "has nothing to do with how much this car apeals to a person"

The study, now in its seventh year, measures owner delight with the design, content, layout and
performance of new vehicles across eight specific categories during the first two to six months of
ownership. The categories are: engine/transmission; ride, handling and braking; comfort/convenience;
seats; cockpit/instrument panel; heating, ventilation and cooling; sound system; and styling/exterior.

the santro is available in cheaper versions priced at 3lacs also.that is bang in alto territory .so that cud also be the reason for its higher sales.

maruti should just stop cashing on the old zen and m800.for how long will they keep selling theese 2 cars.the present cars also have a gap in the body panels, diky doors ...
probably due to the same dies being used for all these years.

satya

An old thread, however Maruti has changed now...

A seious contender likely for Maruti 800 ..

And the recently launched Maruti Suzuki Zen

Both are good looking models.
