Even then how does the Indigo fit into this definition ?
There was no old generation Indigo. Or was there?

Intriguing concept -- earlier gen vs. next gen -- thence this OT:
  • Kishore Kumar: Amit Kumar
  • Mukesh : Nitin Mukesh
  • Sharmila Tagore: Soha Ali Khan
  • Amitabh Bachchan: Abhishek Bachchan
Am comparing, not the human beings, whom of course, most of us don't know personally, but the immortal personas and façades they conjured up, within the entertainment offerings that we love.

I apologize in advance, if I've trampled somebody's sentiments.

Interesting thread indeed!

I agree with the original list more or less but it should have Indica, not Indigo in it. The original IDEA styling was ruined by ERC's desi design team when they introduced those stupid fake wheel arches. Indigo should be kept out since it is not a restyled Indica.

Toy-ugly

I think the Toyota Innova is an ugly vehicle. Yes, it runs great and has great quality but it is so ugly it has to sneak up on a diesel pump to get fuel. However, the Qualis (What the heck is a "Qualis" anyway?) was not exactly Aishwarya Rai either.

No offense, but I think the previous Optra looked better than the current Magnum!

How to decide whether old was better?

OHC was 3rd Generation Honda City.
NHC is the 4th generation Honda City.
So NHC is not a redesign of OHC.

Note: NHC ZX is redesign of pre-ZX NHC.
hey i must say that, the OHC was a more elegant design and it shud be styled on the pedigree of The City. Hence i conclude the NHC is one ugly car (no offence)

The problem is sometimes designers go overboard. They add unnecessary lines, cuts, grooves and what not.....to show that they are DESIGNERS....to finally ruin the looks.

A car does NOT have to look OUT OF THE WORLD to look good. Not everybody likes Star Wars.

Why can't we have a CLEAN UNCLUTTERED design? Why should a car bought with your hard earned money look funny? (Zen Classic).

i think i can accept the others but the worst is the current optra IMO

the old optra was so much better atleast it looked as one car now it looks as if front portion of some car pasted on optra's rear portion

The Scorpio : The new one still has the old cars silhouette, but I hate:

1. The flaps on the bumper: Absolutely awkward, they just jut out of the bumper and are too huge.

2. The scoop: Besides being non-functional, it looks like someone just stuck on a scoop for the heck of it, they could have made it look much better for an SUV

3. The rear lights: Gawdy. With all those multiple depressions on the long reflector.

The 2nd gen Zen: The old one had a nice shape, but it started looking extremely middle-aged with the facelift, parts of which looked too angular.

The 'Zen' Estilo: Though not a redesign, but a replacement, why-o-why did they have called it the 'ZEN' Estilo? Qualities of the car aside, it is simply not a Zen!

To a small extent:
The Magnum: The design of the front dosn't flow to the back, the atleast the car looks fresher.

Indica: The newer one with those bulged wheel arches - they looked too big, as in disproportionate.

MODS: Can you please change the thread title to "Cars RUINED by DESIGN / RE-DESIGN" ?

Thanks in advance,

I don't like the 2006 Accord rear. LED lights remind me of plastic gimmic - like pulsar .

I am very very very senti of the rear looks of the 3.0 2005 Accord - very very classy!
