Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

You've given one of the reasons (parking) already in your post. This is not a daily drive which means you need space for 2 or 3 cars to be able to maintain it well, depending on how many daily drives you need in your family. Another constraint is the spare time to maintain and enjoy it.

In my case, I'm already having a Zen that I'm not willing to part with. It has a lot of sentimental value attached to it and there is no way I can afford the parking, time and money to maintain another car which cannot double up as a daily drive.

Yes! They do look like Stanley headlight beams. and regarding the AC, my bad.
But, it has to be noted that the engine bay is exceptionally clean!

Looks like you got a little confused. Me and Fintail were referring to the below ad.

Coming to your car, it might be better off without those large stickers on windscreen and doors. The demographic who appreciates those stickers are unlikely to be interested in SS80 these days. Original parts carry a lot of weight to those looking for SS80.

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

Could you tell us more about the car? And in response to your second statement, bad luck mate! But SS80s in my opinion are characterful old cars and never be classics.

P.S: No offence intended!

Cheers!

Well maintained fully original ss80 cars are very difficult to get this days.Only such cars have demand that is less run, never been tinkered, has all the original bits and pieces, and interiors well maintained. For eg: fellow Bhpian Suresh kishores car.Jai3033 had a good DX car which was bought by another Bhpina Phani from Bangalore for Rs75000/- in 2011.
This is not to discourage the seller mithundas, but generally SS80s which have been restored carry less value than ''time capsule specimens''

Whether SS80 will become classics only time can tell.but one thing is already evident getting a really good SS80 is difficult than getting a good Fiat 1100 in Kerala

Perfectly understandable! The Fiat 1100s were produced from early 1954 to late 1972. So, chances of getting a good example in this modern day and age are pretty slim. Ask me! My granddads one is in okayish condition.

However, the SS80s were produced for a very limited amount of time i.e from December 1983 to early 1986.

Since, the SS80 was around for a lesser amount of time, examples produced were less. Pristine surviving examples, even more so!

Cheers!

ORVM and the Suzuki S/800/DX logos at the rear spoils an otherwise clean look!

This car was for sometime in Palghat and the engine stalled on the Coimbatore highway because the guys drove it with almost nil engine oil
Otherwise it was a fairly original car.

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

Dear All,
Compliments of the day!

i am having a 1984 SS 80 standard with me, using it as my daily car, the car is in complete stock condition, runs like a dream.

can anyone please tell me how do i service the front shock-absorbers? as the rubber on the top is cut and the vehicle is making sound/s due to that.

thanks & regards
