Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

Saw a Beige coloured PY registered SS80 at Pattom in Trivandrum on November 13, at around noon, and the car looked quite tidy and in fine nick. Could not click from the bus I was in.
Mr Ajay, perhaps, may be able to throw more light about the car.

can anyone please tell me how do i service the front shock-absorbers? as the rubber on the top is cut and the vehicle is making sound/s due to that.

thanks & regards

Please do post photos of the car.You have to get a front shock absorber mounting Kit and if the shocks are leaking you have to get a new set

The fact that it is Beige coloured shows that its owner is not much concerned about the originality.Being an admirer of ''original'' SS80 cars I dont follow the details of such cars.based on experience, only those handful of SS80 which are in long term single/second owner and covered less kms(>60000) and well maintained remains as good examples

Yes there was a A/cTG model which was commonly known as Semi Deluxe.
But this is a genuine DX model (see the seatbelts and Digital Clock) without the leather seats(which could have worn out and hence removed)

Are you sure the seat belts didn't come in the AC/TG variant? I just went over a few other non-DX SS80 pics in this thread and find the seat belts in some of them. Not sure if all of them were retro-fitted or if the AC/TG too had seat belts.

Clock could have been an extra fitting done by the owner back in the days when it was available as a spare. The guy who put up the ad is the first owner and he didn't mention anything about it being DX though he specifically mentioned AC and TG. I think it could be this semi-deluxe variant.

Seat belts,Antenna,Radiocum cassetteplayer, clock, leather seats, beige coloured carpets came only in DX.The semi DX had just the a/c and Tinted glass. There is a blue single owner car KBT9..9 still in trivandrum which was A/C TG

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

2 good ss80s advertised for sale.
http://hardwar.olx.in/maruti-800-for...-iid-572731413
http://chandigarhcity.olx.in/maruti-...-iid-572893709

North India still seems to have well maintained SS80's unlike Kerala, where there are lot of SS80s in running condition, but lacking originality

Not sure about the originality of these ones either! Are you referring to original paint?

In blue 800, check the alloy wheels and modified front seats - is it SB308 seats? Not sure how original it is.

On the brown one, did you notice the ORVMs?

Yes,in these 2 cars I was talking about the exterior.Note the chrome decals on the rear.
Also I am aware of the alloys,Rear view mirrors. These are things which are still available and be replaced. But if the body and paint has been tampered, you cannot get it back to factory originality.Likewise the chrome decals which is almost unavailable since decades.

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

For those interested:

This SS80 was bought by our fellow team bhpian (late) suren181 from another team bhpian here, and happens to be for sale currently:

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ml#post2654602

Those interested may pm me and I will pass on the contact no. of the person who's in charge of the car since suren's demise, so you could deal with him directly.

The car is NOT with me nor do I have anything to do with the deal/price negotiation etc.

Just FYI, passing on the info. on behalf of suren's family.

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

Spoke to the Pune White 800 owner. Its a second owner car but still registered as a first owner. Green Tax not paid so will have to be paid with a penalty. Has a huge dent on teh front left door. and non-orignal wheels. But everythign apart from teh wheels looks quite orignal and tidy. Second onwer asking Rs 55,000 for it which I find a little steep. Also, the A/C is not working. Its orignal though. Its a DX car according to the owner.

Tribute to 30 years of Maruti Suzuki in India with a 1984 SS80 Restoration

Just completed restoring a friends SS80, tried my level best to Restore it to its Best of Originality.

Availability of Genuine spares ensured i fell short of getting it to Its BEST of Originality.
